Yesterday Moose and I presented the Bracco Italiano Breed Lecture to the Trainee Judges. Moose hung out with the Trainees whilst I provided the lecture.

We are very thankful for the invite, as education of our Judges is really important with such a rare breed.

A thank you also to Arnkay and HiPoint for their guidance and expertise in preparing the breed lecture.

Today we headed to a Scentwork trial and Moose made his performance sport debut

Moose walked away with a pass in Novice Vehicles

Cinque got the final pass she needed for her Scentwork Novice title!

Cookies passed Advanced Vehicles

And Rumba got a pass in Advanced Interior

Posting this again as I just spoke to someone who was speaking to a ‘breeder’ but thankfully noticed a few red flag

- we don’t ask for deposits until we are ready to assign puppies
- we encourage you to meet us and our dogs and see where we raise our puppies (in our home)
- we will give you our breeders prefix and number so you can check we are registered with DogsWest
- are always happy to answer questions and provide support

only registered breeders can provide you with papers from Dogs Australia.

Do your research.

We also offer lifetime support and if at any point you can no longer look after your Vizsla or Bracco we will take it back

We recently headed across the Nullarbor to Adelaide to show at the Dogs SA Winter International with the Gundogs.

Been a big few weeks for Mav

He’s ready to be a father once the right lady comes along. Also working with the team at Sires on Ice to ensure that he’s in top top shape and ready to return to the show ring soon

His scores came back rather quickly

Hips were 4:3 and Elbows 0:0

Which means we can progress onto the next steps in his stud dog journey

We had 2 shows this weekend.

Mav - 1 x Runner Up Best of Breed and Dog Challenge
Moose - 2x Baby of Breed and 3rd place in Baby Sweepstakes last night. His first frilly 😍

We have a busy Easter coming up with lots of dogs in the kennels and a couple of Scentwork trials

We’ve been very busy starting the kennels and competing on the weekends so I’ve been a bit lax with out results and we’ve been keeping another secret.

We welcomed a new member to our show team - Braconpoynt King of the Forest - Moose

He settled in like he always belonged and this weekend he hit the show ring for the first time. No big wins, but he had fun which is the most important thing.

We are pleased to welcome the second Bracco Italiano to WA

I am pleased to share the next exciting news for us.

We have moved!

We are now located just 5 mins from DogsWest in Southern River.

As of next week we will be able to take dogs for boarding and day care. We will also be taking cats for boarding. We look forward to looking after animals for people and particularly those breeds that can often be difficult to leave like the German Shorthaired Pointer and Hungarian Vizsla.

We will be adding more services as the year goes on.

This is an exciting new adventure for all of us. The dogs are already enjoying having more space

The first bit of news that I can share is that at the end of 2023 I commenced study towards a Certificate IV in Animal Behaviour and Management.

Bracco people - Our friend Gaynor Richards has some lovely Brown and White boys that will be looking for homes in February. They aren’t directly related to our Cinque but have been raised with Cinque’s Aunt, Uncle and cousins that Gaynor owns.

Pretty happy considering she is the only one in the state at the moment.

Not bad considering she missed out on 6 months of shows.

Whilst we can’t provide the Pointscore results for all the dogs just yet, we can farewell 2023.

We’ve achieved a lot, experienced some new things, done things we said we wouldn’t do 🤣

2024 is looking like an exciting year. We may not show as much but we have plans in store for each and every dog.

Thank you to everyone who has trusted me to handle dogs for them this year and thank you to those that have stepped up and helped us in the rings.

Happy 8th Birthday Rumba 🎉🎉🎉

We’ve had a good year. Competing at your first and only National Agility trial, getting 1st Place Master Jumping and a Neuter in Group at the Perth Royal Show, Neuter in Show (Beagle Club) and Runner-up Neuter in Show (Hound Club).

2024 will be a lot different but I’m just happy to spend time with you

Backed up her results from 2022 was again No 1 Neuter Gundog in WA.

We are immensely proud as she spent half of the year not being shown.

She finished off the year being our star and the Director’s favourite on the set of RUNT. Can’t wait to see it when it’s released in 2024

Even with a bit of help Cinque didn’t have much luck. I lost the bags too but she couldn’t pick them up again

Baci also got a run today and at the end we ran her with Cinque in the hopes of getting her to run better. Whilst Cinque didn’t run, Baci did a cracking run, unfortunately no video of it though. Looking forward to seeing how she goes at an ANKC trial next weekend. Hopefully the Judge understands Gundogs

Maverick’s first look at Lure Coursing today. He liked it at first and then got a bit scared. He still has plenty of time to get the hang of it

Baci went from strength to strength and I can not be prouder of how she handled her first Nationals. Here is her Novice Jumping run that was her first clear round. A bit more complicated than we would normally get in Novice but set by our wonderful Judge from Finland. Unfortunately wasn’t fast enough for placings, but I don’t think she was too far behind

We did some Scentwork training with the older dogs and Maverick got to have a go as well. He is still a little bit too excited but we have time to work on this

Here is video of Baci in the Best in Group line up at this morning’s show. She came away with Best in Group 4th (it works in reverse). Well done to Tracey for handling here whilst I was handling our other dog. There was 115 dog entered in the Group today so a great effort

Thought I would share this video of Baci’s Novice Jumping run on Saturday. Her first run was even better but still small mistakes

Baci’s Novice Interior search from Sunday night. I need to work on my lead handling skills but very proud of how well she did as she was one of the last dogs to go so lots of other smells in the air

Taken on our walk the other night. Both dogs are Gundogs so hunting birds is a natural instinct but Baci has always had a better technique. Her steadiness on point is brilliant *No birds were hurt
