🎄🚧🚧Christmas dangers for your pet🚧🚧🎄

1. Ham & fatty foods - Don't give in to the puppy dog eyes with this one! I know we all like to give our pets a little treat, but ham and fatty foods are the number one culprit for giving our pets pancreatitis!
2. Grapes, sultanas, raisins, macadamia nuts and chocolate - Keep these ones for your own snacking! These are toxic to our furry friends.
3. Christmas ornaments - These usually look super fun to our feline friends, but be careful to keep them out of reach as ingestion of these can cause blockages.
4. Batteries - There's often lots of batteries around on Christmas, particularly if you have little people with fun and exciting new toys! Ingestion of batteries can be life threatening for your pet.
5. Bones - Care should always be taken when giving your pets bones as it always comes with a risk. Please remember no cooked bones! Bones can splinter and damage our pets intestines, they can cause blockage and can also fracture teeth. Always administer caution when feeding your pets bones!
6. Alcohol - Alcohol poisoning occurs a lot more quickly in pets than humans. Definitely keep all alcohol to yourselves!
7. Xylitol - Xylitol is an artificial sweetener that can be found in some lollies, gum and other Christmas treats. Xylitol is VERY dangerous if ingested by your pet. If your pet accidentally ingests some sweets this Christmas, check the ingredient label immediately.

If you have a pet emergency this Christmas, you can contact us during business hours on (07)38184119, or for out of hours emergencies, contact Animal Referral Hospital on (07)31720593.

🎄CHRISTMAS IS COMING - HERE'S SOME IMPORTANT REMINDERS REGARDING YOUR PETS🎄
1. Vaccinations up to date: Is your pet boarding this Christmas? Pet boarding facilities will require up to date vaccination certificates to be able to accommodate your pet. This is the busiest time of year for vet clinics, do not leave it too late to book your pets booster!
2. Medication: Is your pet on any ongoing medication? Make sure you place an order early for medication to make sure you have enough for the holidays. Not only are vet clinics closed for a duration, but so are their wholesalers so the sooner you can prepare to get your pets medication, the better!
3. Microchip details: When was the last time you checked your pets microchip details? Christmas is a busy time, with lots of travelling and lots of people coming and going in the home. Make sure your pets microchip details are up to date in case they slip their way out of a door!
