LOT 330 RBWS JRL ARISTOS
Long as a train, with a very easy doing constitution and quiet nature is what you’ll find when you see Aristos. He’s from the first exciting crop of ABOLENGOS, so rest assured he’ll be fertile, structurally correct, with a good skin type. Aristos is also our first offering of our very exciting donor cow, ADA 211. Her legacy here so far is nothing short of exceptional, so get in on the ground floor, you won’t be disappointed. LOT 497 RBWS.
The first of Boyd’s exciting draft. Stud masters, JRL B CHANDALOR offers fully imported, first time genetics, with the ability to breed red or grey, all wrapped up in a big, growthy sire with ample bone and breed character. He’ll sell early in the red section Tuesday afternoon. Chandalor’s ADG off grass were an impressive .53 kg/day and his sisters are showing the same easy temperament, growth and fertility in our early ai work. All sale bulls have been morphology tested for buyers piece of mind and are in his video. Mark him to inspect.

Here we go.
Our first lot into the ring at Brahman Week, 2024 will be lot 329 JRL AMIGO, a big, powerful sire with extra, extra beef. He was born quite a small calf, but grew quickly. He’s a wonderful combination of our new super sire, ABOLENGO (pictured) and our best female line- LADY POWER. He’s coupled the birth weight, skin type, tidy underline, large testicles and temperament of his sire with the extra growth, thickness and softness of his beautiful donor dam- who is pictured today, less than 24 hrs post calving at a 385 dci. His average daily gain off grass was 0.68kg/day and he has gone on to be the heaviest in the draft. We’ve morphology tested all bulls this year for your piece of mind. As we edge closer to RBWS 2024, we thought we’d refresh everyone on ‘Chantilly’ a proven sire, now deceased, with very limited semen, so his progeny will be rare. His first sons sell at Brahman Week. Videos and scans are done, so keep your eyes peeled for them over the coming days! We’re extremely happy with the consistency of the Chantilly progeny- even temperaments, bone and sound structure. He’s breeding red and grey- so there’ll be something for everyone.

ABOLENGO.
We’ve waited patiently, to finally reveal his sons here in Australia all grown up. They’re set to start the selling season at the 2024 RBWS, and they’re everything we’d hoped for. Neat as a pin, extremely efficient and easy keeping, super quiet with a great skin type. 4 opportunities knock at RBWS to secure the first ones. All from donor dams who’ve proven their worth in the paddock.
Impressive weights gains through the dry, all easily calved- some out of recipient first calf heifers, and their sisters are proving the fertility through our early ai work. Commercially driven, commercially on point, stud quality sires.

We’ve been busy this week doing some ai work on the stud heifers. POLLED MAVERICK was the sire of choice on the strength of his exciting first calf crop here. It’ll be a great test of fertility this season, after a very tough, dry 18 months.
CARINYA WINSTON, the tried and proven legend, gets to ‘mop up’. He’s been shuffled along this year- he’s 10 years young, and we thought might need a bit smaller mob to look after. Keep an out out for a fresh, young, polled sire to strut his stuff this season- he’ll be covering the stud cows and we’ll be doing some AI and IVF work with him too. Photos coming soon!

The bull wrangler was out amongst the maiden heifers this morning, they’re doing so well considering a very tough season. Lovely set of POLLED MAVERICK calves on them, and we were most impressed with those udders!

Comparing Apples with Apples

It is difficult to hear the negativity that circulates about Brahmans. And sometimes we can be our own worst enemies. So let us compare Brahmans to Brahmans instead of Brahmans to Angus/Charolais/Wagyu or any other breed.

Recognize this great breed for its admirable traits that a lot of other breeds do not exhibit - or are expected to.

Yes, our females first calf may be when she is slightly older than other breeds, but she continues to produce for many more years than most other breeds – more calves, more profit.
Yes, our females survive where not many other breeds can – live animal – more profit.
Yes, our Brahmans can travel many miles in some of the toughest terrain in Australia when other breeds are sitting under a tree or wallowing in a waterhole – more live cattle – more profit.
Yes, our Brahmans are the lowest input breed - less treatments required - less cost, more profit.
Yes, our Brahman bulls have survivability and with their inbuilt heat tolerance, they are out serving cows while other breeds can’t function in the heat – more calves, more profit.
Yes, our breed is competing with Weight for age, EMA, IMF, P8 and Rump data – better scores - more profit.
Yes, our Brahmans are being purchased at a reduced rate to go into feedlots, but they can perform as well as any breed. A lot of those Brahmans are ‘grading’ and I would suggest achieve the highest profit margin for the owners.

Make the most of the markets our breed covers and choose the right one for you - live export, replacement females, weaner, feeder or magnificent grassfed bullocks.

We have been attending saleyards recently to purchase steers. The resounding message is – breed quality. Quality always sells well. Quality pens of Brahman steers can and do make as much as other breeds. And quality brahman replacement heifers are at the top of the market regularly – she is the queen of crossbreeding after all.

Each breed is bred for various traits, management styles, and environment, but also to fulfil different markets. Brahmans will always have a place in the Australian market. Choose to breed the good ones and you will succeed.

With the Futurity now done and dusted, we’re very much getting into next years and the 2026 prospects!
While riding around the paddocks, we thought we’d take a few photos and videos of the paddock Bulls and Heifers we’re about to offer for private sale. There’re well grown, quiet, and easy keeping. All registered, Breedplan nominated and completely grass prepared- no crop, no supplements. We’ve got plenty of data available- growth rates, dam DCI, udder scores to name a few. We’ve culled them very heavily on average daily gains, temperament and structure, so you can be assured they’ll go and produce calves that produce extra kg’s and extra $. Sires include the first sons and daughters of ABOLENGO, Carinya Winston and the results of some exciting imported USA embryos. PM or call for further details.

Another NUTRIEN CLASSIC and BIG COUNTRY down, and what a wonderful run we’ve had. A huge thank you to all successfull purchasers and underbidders- we truly value your support. Best of luck to everyone who purchased a horse, heifer or bull! We put a lot of time and effort into breeding and preparing them each year, and get such a reward watching them go off and do a great job in whatever field chosen.
We’re back and busily getting ready for the NCHA Futurity and also starting to choose some Brahman Week contenders! Stay tuned!

Great first day at Big Country today. The girls sold well and off to a lovely home. The boys go tomorrow- the bull wrangler’s bull is lot 382- he’s no good as a bucking bull we’ve established, but a top sire in every other respect! Don’t forget a top POLL prospect sells as lot 383 and the big Elmo sire from Joanne 82 sells as lot 378. Look forward to catching everyone in the morning.
