Hi everyone.
As 2024 draws to a close, this Monday(16th December) will be our last packing and sending day.
We will keep some stock in the cool room for PICK UP ORDERS ONLY over the holiday period.
Limited stock will be available, so please check with us before placing your order.

We will begin packing and shipping again on the 6th of January.

We thank everyone for their support this year and wish you all a safe and happy Christmas.

We have been working away in the background to bring you something exciting that will take your garden, fruits and vegetables or your farm to the next level.

Our worms go through a 3 stage separation process before being packed.
1. The worm laiden bedding is removed from the beds and placed on a sheet of iron to remove the castings and bedding. Once the bedding is removed with the use of sunlight you are left with a ball of worms.

2. They then move onto the second stage where the worms are placed on a woven stainless steel screen. The screen is the ideal size to allow the reds, tigers and juvenile African Nightcrawlers pass through while leaving only the large Africans on top to be packed for orders.

3. The remaining worms are then placed onto a second screen that allows only baby worms to pass through leaving adult compost worms on top to be packed for orders.

The remaining baby worms are then returned to the worm farms and left to grow and reproduce. This system ensures that the farms are not over harvested and maintain a healthy population

We are always on the look out for new or different food for our worms and a few weeks ago we got a heap of cage waste from Guinea Pigs and it turns out there was lots of sunflower seeds in the mix.
We transferred some into the garden but most get turned back into worm food.

THE MIRACLE OF LIFE

It was an exciting discovery while packing some worms this morning. Baby worms a merging from their egg.
You can see the first worm is out, and the next one is right behind him with I think another worm curled up inside.

Amazing to see. It is rare for us to see them hatching.

This week we collected more than 4 ton of waste Lettuce, strawberries, pineapples and raspberrys along with 5m3 of horse manure for our worms. The above picture is only half of it.
Produce waste because of defects or shape is such a big issue in Australia, but it is nice to know that we can give a sustainable outlet for the suppliers we work with.

Returning the baby worms to the worm beds is vital to ensuring the longevity of the worm farms and help prevent over harvesting of a worm farm.

Following on from our last reel starting the worm brew, it is now time to put it out on the trees. In most cases you would dilute the brew, but because we made so much we just use it straight and treat the base of the trees.
