First of the season is a white-faced lutino like our baby Kirin 😍
These guys actually laid 6 eggs but only 1 ended up fertile. They're part of a 4-group poly (1 female, 3 males) in which 2 of the males mate with the girl. This is pretty handy since we get the feeling the older male is infertile (but he and the girl were originally bonded, so they're kept together).
Fingers crossed for this little one!

I've got a new home! :)

Hello! My name is Piper and I'm looking for a new home. I believe I'm about 2 years old. I was surrendered because I had two boy cockatiels who would bully and pluck me!

I'm hand-raised and a very sweet girl. However, like most hand-raised female cockatiels, I don't really like getting scritches unless it's on my terms.

I'm a very good eater and love pellets! I believe I would be best suited to someone with older children who understand boundaries, or an older couple who is looking for a quiet friend, preferably being the only bird in the home.
The only loud noises I tend to make are the normal flock calls for when you leave the room without me.

Piper does not come with a cage. And remember, the bigger the cage, the better!

No. You don't get it. Kirin keeps scratching himself with his missing leg. It's creepy af. He hasn't had that leg for almost a year now. Why does he keep scratching himself with it 😭 😂

FINALLY

So I've been super inactive on here, mostly because we've not been doing any breeding this season and because we've been busy with something exciting.

Our big shed aviaries are done!
All have been hand-built by my partner, Stephen. The birds really seem to love it. Next task is getting and making some toys for them! For now, they've sure had a go at shredding their perches and gum leaves 😆

We plan on opening to the public via appointment for a walk in soon! We just need to tidy up the inside to make it more accessable in places.
It should be wheelchair accessible, there's just the slight raise to get into the shed, then the walkway is about 1.2m wide. Sorry if it isn't 😭 we wanted to give the birds as much space as possible.

Thanks to everyone who has supported us along the way! It has been incredibly stressful, but it's so nice seeing our babies have a lot of room to flap and mess about. If all goes well, we should be breeding next season 🙌

One aviary set up, seven more to go. Just some basic stuff in there for the time being. We plan on getting swings, ladders and other toys later.

We're wanting to get rope. Thinking something like h**p so it's more natural for them (in the case they start chewing at it, which is bound to happen). Where do you guys get your natural toys and rope from?

Just wanted to give a heads up to those who were interested in potentially getting a baby lizard from our female:
Unfortunately we've been unable to find a suitable male for her to mate with, so we'll most likely not have any little ones this season. Sorry

We have solved the "why is there hay all over the bird room floor" mystery.
Our zebra finches want babies.
And I might just steal the babies from them at some stage, if the eggs are fertile...
