🐶 Heads up, Strathalbyn dog owners! 🐾

We’ve started seeing a few suspected cases of Kennel Cough (Canine Cough) in Strathalbyn and surrounding areas, so we wanted to spread the word to help keep our furry friends safe. 💚

What to watch out for:
• A persistent “honking” cough
• Mucus when coughing or from the nose
• Gagging or retching
• Sneezing
• Fever
• Lethargy
• Loss of appetite
⚠️ In more serious cases, it can lead to pneumonia and become life-threatening.

Dogs most at risk:
🐾 Puppies
🐾 Older dogs
🐾 Dogs with other health issues

How it spreads:
💨 Airborne droplets from coughing or sneezing
🦴 Contact with contaminated items (like bowls, bedding or toys)

Dogs with kennel cough can stay contagious for up to a month — sometimes longer. Even vaccinated dogs can catch it, but symptoms are usually milder and they’re less likely to pass it on.

👉 If you suspect your dog might have kennel cough, please call us on 8536 2722 before coming in.
When you arrive, stay in your car and give us a quick call — we’ll let you know the safest way to bring your dog in.
