Traveling with Your Pet? Safety First! 🐾🚗

Keep your furry friend safe and comfortable during car rides with our quick tips:

1. Use a pet seat belt, harness, or crate to prevent roaming.
2. Comfort Matters: Bring their favourite items for familiarity and comfort.
3. Frequent Breaks: Stop every couple of hours for stretching, bathroom, and water breaks.
4. Never leave your pet unattended in a parked car, as it can quickly become dangerously hot.🥵

Remember that each pet is unique, and their comfort and needs may vary. Pay close attention to your pet's behaviour and adjust your travel plans accordingly. Travelling with pets can be a positive experience when done safely and thoughtfully.

As a pet owner, you want your furry friend to be safe in any situation. Emergencies of any kind can happen unexpectedly, which is why it’s critical to include your pet in emergency planning:

⚠️ Create an Emergency Kit
Include food, water, and medications for up to 2 weeks, a familiar blanket, and a leash/collar or carrier. Consider your animal's sanitation needs; include paper towels, disinfectant, and rubbish bags.

⚠️ Microchip Your Pet
Update microchip info and use ID tags for quick identification.

⚠️ Have an Emergency Plan
Discuss evacuation routes, emergency contacts, and safe meeting spots and know which shelters and facilities can accommodate your pet during evacuations.

Being prepared can save your pet's life in an emergency. 🐾🚨

With spring in full swing, it's important to consider our furry companions in the garden.

🌿 Toxic Plants: Some plants can upset your pet's stomach. Cats, in particular, should be kept away from lilies, which can cause kidney failure. Create barriers or supervise outdoor time if you have lilies.

🌿 Pesticides: Check pesticide labels for safety around pets and follow usage guidelines. Non-toxic alternatives can help both your garden and your pets thrive.

🌿 Snail and Rat Bait: Metaldehyde in snail and slug bait can be deadly for dogs. Avoid relying on bait; use traps for rodents instead.

If you suspect your pet has been exposed to a garden toxin, contact us immediately for guidance and potential treatment. 🌼🐾

There are four major types of intestinal worms – Roundworms, Hookworms, Whipworms and Tapeworm 🪱 All of which your dog needs to be protected against.

Worms may be seen in dog faeces or vomit, but it usually requires veterinary testing to diagnose. Some dogs present no symptoms despite being infested with worms, which is why it’s important to have your dog on a parasite prevention, such as Nexgard or Bravecto.

Checking in on : Remember, a simple conversation can make a big difference in someone's life.

Did you know veterinarians are four times more likely to take their life than the general population? Negative interactions and client abuse are major contributors to the poor mental health of vets and staff. 💔

Reach out, listen, and show you care. Together, we can make a positive impact on mental health.

Research with EEG scanning conducted while dogs slept supports dream activity. If you watch your dog closely, you will notice that they occasionally move their legs as if running, whine, whimper, or even bark, breathe heavily, and have normal rapid eye movements during dream sleep.

As predatory animals, cats are hard-wired to hunt, chase and roam. These activities, whether directed at a gazelle out on the African Savannah or at a new feather toy in your living room, consume a large amount of energy.

To make up for such a fierce predatory lifestyle, a typical cat must spend 15+ hours per day sleeping. Also, because cat’s are crepuscular, they are most active during the twilight hours of dawn and dusk leaving the majority of their day directed at storing energy and “cat napping”. 🐱💤
