Meet Dolcë and Adelaide, our new Border Collie puppies! 🐾 These two have stolen our hearts and brought so much joy to our home. Check out their journey and adorable moments!

Last year we welcomed Dolcë and Adelaide, Border Collie puppies, into our home. I have wanted a chocolate Collie since seeing "Toby the Wonderdog", on TV in the 90's! We found a breeder in Woodend, through one of our customers, and went to meet little Dolcë when she was only 5 weeks old; I knew im...

Many people ask, “What’s the difference between grass hay and pasture hay?”

Grass hay, sometimes referred to as “paddock hay”, is just that; it’s a paddock that’s been cut and baled. It can contain a range of grass species, as well as clover and other species, but paddock hay in the state of Victoria, is sure to contain perennial rye grasses, sometimes as much as 95% of the bale. Perennial rye grasses have endophytes.

Endophytes are fungi that live in ryegrass plants, and they can affect the health of the grass and the animals that eat it.

What are endophytes?
Endophytes are naturally occurring fungi that live in the cell walls of ryegrass.
They are symptomless and live mostly near the base of the grass.
They spread upwards as the seed heads develop.

How do endophytes benefit the plant?
Endophytes protect the plant from insects and animals by producing chemical deterrents or toxins.
Endophytes enhance the yield and persistence of the grass.

How do endophytes affect animals?
Endophytes can cause stock health problems, such as ryegrass staggers.
Symptoms include tremors in the neck and head, followed by heavy tremors and stiff legs.
Seriously affected animals often fall over when disturbed.

Pasture hay is sown on improved soils, w**d free and fertilised, increasing the nutrient content of the plant. Thus, pasture hay will provide more nutrients to the animals eating it.
Our pasture hay is Annual Rye Fine Feed, with no endophytes, so is safe for all of your livestock.
