Do Groodles really need a backyard? 🏡✨
Swipe to see why the answer is… not necessarily!

Groodles can thrive in small spaces as long as they get daily exercise, enrichment and quality time with you. A backyard is a bonus - your commitment is what really matters.

Training & Intelligence (The Groodle Guide - Part 5)

Let’s talk about one of the best parts of owning a Groodle… how ridiculously clever they are 🧠✨

The cross between Golden Retriever eagerness and Poodle-level smarts means Groodles are quick learners who genuinely thrive on training.

So what’s been our experience?
✨ They pick up new tricks fast - especially with positive reinforcement
✨ Training sessions double as mental exercise (which helps prevent mischief!) ✨ Consistency and clear cues make a huge difference
✨ A little daily training = a calmer, more confident, more connected dog

In this video we are sharing that for us, training isn’t about perfection… it’s about bonding, communication and building trust.

What tricks does your dog know? 👇

Say hello to Magic, one of Ruby and Maloo’s adorable puppies from their last litter! 💖

A huge thank-you to Magic’s wonderful hooman for sharing this precious beach moment—watch him learn to fetch in the waves! 🌊🎾

Quick puppy fitness + safety tip:
Puppies should stay on a leash at the beach until about 12 months old. This protects growing joints and helps prevent hip dysplasia later on. 🦴✨
Leashes also help with recall, so you know they’ll come back when you call. 🗣️📣

Keeping pups on a leash at the beach until they’re a year old is the safest choice for their growing bodies and lifelong health. 🐶💕

Enjoy the cuteness and have happy, healthy adventures with your fur babies ! 🧡

Heidi (one of our guardian Mumma’s) is staying with us for a few days while her humans are away. This is how she is bonding with Chili 🩷🐶

In canine language, kissing (licking) = bonding, scent sharing, and trust-building. Look for relaxed bodies, soft eyes, and wagging tails to know it’s friendly.

Does your dog do this? 🐾

Can You Keep Up With a Groodle? (The Groodle Guide - Part 4)

Spoiler alert: Groodles aren’t “lazy” dogs 🐾

Don’t get me wrong - they certainly have their chill days - but these dogs are a mix of brains and bounce: part Golden Retriever enthusiasm, part Poodle smarts. Like most dogs, they need both mental and physical exercise to stay happy (and out of mischief).

Here’s the thing:
✨ Most Groodles need at least 60-90 minutes of exercise a day - walks, fetch, swimming, or off-lead play.
✨ They also need regular mental stimulation! Think puzzle toys, training games, and scent work to tire out that clever mind.
✨ Under-exercised Groodles can get bored… and boredom often means “creative problem-solving” (aka digging, chewing, or barking).

We’ve found our girls are pretty adaptable to our lifestyle. One day we’ll spend hours at the beach, and the next we’re just tossing a ball around in the backyard - but we always make sure they get their daily dose of movement (both mental & physical 😉)

A well-exercised Groodle is calm, content and cuddly - the perfect family companion.

So… do you think you could keep up? 🐶

Next up: Part 5 - Training & Intelligence (how easy are they to train) ✨
