Nimbus and Thickett
Nimbus has fathered many clutches with Hava, but since she was taken by a snake, we’ve paired him with Thickett, the girl we kept from a Disco-Specs clutch. So she’s about a year younger, but so much larger! That’s the ‘English Budgie’ genes for you :)
Heart and Spring and nesting box
Our boy Heart is ready to become a Dad himself. Here he’s busy encouraging his mate Spring to check out the nesting box we’ve given them :)
Button not camera-shy
Nimbus decided to be camera-shy and Hava quickly followed her mate. Even Twinkle-toes wasn’t comfortable with the attention. His mate Button, though, much preferred to stay eating greens and not worry about the video. Quite uncharacteristic of her, really 🙂
Have a wonderful day!
TwinkleToes looks up to Nimbus
Since TwinkleToes (TT) has been out and about, he’s decided that he wants to be best buds with older lad Nimbus. There’s 18 months between then, but look at the size difference! And Nimbus doesn’t mind too much. Hava (Nimbus’ mate) seems to think that enough is enough though!
TwinkleToes feeds Button
Some time ago, these two decided they preferred each other’s company over everyone else’s. But there were too many other birds in the aviary, so they were more than happy to get their own cage for some peace and quiet. Now they’re out and about again, and still just as adorable. And who knows? Maybe some babies of their own come next year when she’s old enough!
Lady wanting some loving :)
Topaz and Lady are just so adorable. Lady wanted some reassuring cuddles after her last clutch left late last week, and Topaz obliged. I love at the end of the clip how he shuffled away from her and she followed - but when she shuffled away, he moved closer to her again!
Day 1 of hand- training :)
The evening feed before starting to roost on my shoulder. Essential bird-human bonding time :)
Nimbus & Hava’s biggest clutch yet!
Hava has been busy raising 8 babies in this current clutch... this is our biggest clutch to date! I’m guessing our little friends are really quite liking their conditions. I’ve recently paved the bottom of the aviary (we’ve had issues with rodents) and paving seems to have fixed the problem :)
Little blue girl :)
She’s ever so cute!
Checking out some leptospermum :)
