Stretch and Soothe is back for 2024!
Join us here at Hoofbeats Sanctuary with our resident Exercise Physiologist Shianne, as we learn to reconnect with our bodies in our women's trauma-informed somatic movement program.
The program will run for 4 weeks on Fridays from 10-11am starting on Feb 23rd. No experience is needed. What better way to reconnect with yourself through gentle movement surrounded by horses.
At only $5 per class when paid in advance online, it is a wonderful way to calm your nervous system, reconnect and rediscover what you are capable of.

What is equine exercise physiology? 🐴
Just like with human exercise physiologist, we focuses on studying the physical aspects of the equine athlete. Muscle physiology, conditioning techniques, manual therapeutic support, injury and rehabilitation are critical components involved in the training and support of high performance horses.

β€’ Healing is not linear β€’
Remember that 2 steps forward and 1 step back is still 2 steps forward.
The rehabilitation process is a hard and long road. You may feel like you are stuck and not improving, but this is a normal emotion. Sometimes a fresh prospective can help.

Are you and your horse working together or working against each other? πŸ‡πŸ½
After you have sustained an injury, your body position in the saddle may have changed. This can cause a miscommunication and be sending the wrong signal to your horse. πŸ‡πŸ½
Even the most minor of changes to your seat can change your whole riding experience. πŸ‡πŸ½

A strong core is important for horse riders. It helps provide shock absorption, keeps your riding position symmetrical and balanced, and allows better control πŸ‡πŸ½

A lack of core stability results in excessive movement in the saddle, which can interfere with the communication to your horse.

Can you activate your core?
