Guess who is ready to find her forever family 🥺🥺

Our hearts are shattered, but we know it’s time. We wanted to share it here first, so please let us know if that family could be you. She’s the dog that stole the hearts of the Sunshine Coast and saw a community come together to fight for her.

Little update from us 🐾

We haven’t forgotten about you! Miss Dana is doing exceptionally well and healing more every single day. Can you believe it’s been 6 months since her op?! Her Physio said she now even has b***y muscles! 🙌🏼 Her determination and strength the entire time has been nothing like we have ever seen before and something we admire in her so much.

She is still the most beautiful, kind, affectionate and loving dog but is a little more excited these days. With more than 50% of her body feeling like a normal puppy, she’s got more energy then we have seen which is both wonderful and exhausting haha! 😂

We are so thankful every single day for all the beautiful humans that made this possible. I wish you could truly see the difference you made, not only in her body but in her soul 💛

Happy New Year Dana Team! 🐾

2021, what a ride! Dana started the year neglected, cold, in pain and forgotten. She’s ending the year loved, warm, comfortable and valued. By far the BEST moment was seeing a community of people, both friends & strangers come together and fight for the life of a dog most of you had never met. YOU believed in her worth when no one else did, you made her matter.

Nothing is better than that and we will never, ever be able to thank you enough for being a part of Dana’s journey. We couldn’t of done it without the kindness of each and every one of you. You are the reason she is still here and I hope that makes you proud. What a blessing.

I hope your 2022 is full of sunshine, kindness, love and wet kisses 💛

We have had a very scary past 24 hours with Dana 🥺

Last night when she sat down, her surgery knee turned completely inwards, almost touching her other knee! We called her surgeon at 10pm absolutely frantic, worrying her hip had popped out.

We raced her to Dr. Richard early this morning for some emergency x-rays. For those who don’t know, luxations are sadly common with this surgery and are one of the biggest risks you take. The 2 hour wait for the phone call was absolutely horrible and it was seriously one of the most nervous we have both been. I honestly felt so sick as I couldn’t bare the thought of her having to go through it all again.

However, apparently it turns out Dana just enjoys scaring us. Her hip and leg are exactly where they should be and in actual fact, it’s healing really nicely. We are still unsure why her leg is turning that way, but the biggest guess is something muscular (better than it being bone!).

I immediately burst into tears when I heard the words ‘she’s okay’ and I’m not sure I’ve ever been so relieved! Her surgeon, vet team and Physio were all with us holding their breath and shared in our relief (probably even more than us!).

Dana really is so incredibly lucky to be so loved and we feel so blessed to be surrounded by professionals that adore her just as much as we do. Dana! It will take us a little to forgive you for this one 😫

Dana is officially 1 month post op! 👏🏼

Although she still has a long way to go, she is absolutely smashing her goals with her favourite Physio, Brooke. You can see clearly in this video the difference between her two legs. Remember Dana had her right leg operated on and as you can see here, her left leg turns inwards. Absolutely crazy to see that her operated leg only 4 weeks post op is already better than her other leg!

Please please please no 😭

Dana supporters, we are literally begging you, please do not let this happen. We need your support more than ever and we are asking you to please do your part. Did you know a large percentage of dogs in shelters come from filthy farms like this? This could very well be where Dana was from initially.

We have emailed the following members with facts while educating them on what’s at hand here and we hope you can do the same. The email doesn’t have to be long if you don’t have much time, you just have to ask them to vote no on Thursday.

This is what we fight for every single day, day in, day out. This means so much to us so please don’t let this happen. This is 10 minutes up road from where we live, we cannot drive past this and have this a part of our community. To say this is devastating is an understatement, we seriously feel sick.

Dana’s first Physio appointment with Brooke at Holistic Animal Physiotherapy 🐾

Dana’s session involved a massage, acupuncture, laser therapy and hydrotherapy. She did a great job and was such a good girl. Brooke was very happy with progress but still made it clear she has a long way to go.

Keep pushing through Dana, we all believe in you 💛

Happy National Black Dog Day 🐾

October 1st - National Black Dog Day, a day founded in 2012 to bring awareness to the stigma black dogs face. Shelters actually have a term for this stigma, ‘Black Dog Syndrome’ which is when people view black dogs as less attractive and therefore less adoptable than lighter-colored dogs. Regardless of behavior, size, breeding, personality, or age, the phenomenon persists. This day encourages the adoption of a dog in the darker shades in the hope people stop forgetting them. Dana was this dog, a forgotten black dog left in a shelter to die. But not this time, I can promise you that Dana, you will never be bypassed or forgotten again. To all her fellow black dog friends all over the world, I see you 🖤

Home 💛

I’m sorry we haven’t updated, we have spent the last 24 hours cuddling, snuggling and spending time with our girl. I wish you could of seen the moment the puppies and Dana saw each other, they were all just so happy, a seriously special moment. Lots of love in our house tonight and we truly couldn’t be happier 🐾
