The Natural Vets is a full service integrative veterinary clinic, on the Sunshine Coast QLD

We are a unique, dedicated holistic veterinary clinic on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia. We integrate traditional western medicine with alternative therapies with a focus on natural nutrition, homeopathy, Chinese and Western herbal medicine, acupuncture and aromatherapy. We treat all small companion pets including dogs, cats, birds, guinea pigs, reptiles and any native wildlife. We al

We are relentless in seeking to uncover the root causes of disease, and aim to treat these and bring about a cure, rather than use drugs that will only suppress the illness and in time lead to another. We will empower you to set your pet on the Path to Wellness, by educating you about the causes of disease and the tenets of health.

CASE STUDY:

Meet Oreo, a brave pup we began treating in January 2023. At 4.5 years old, Oreo had recently experienced two seizures, with no clear cause – though the second followed an annual vaccination. His blood work was normal, and despite this, the emergency center recommended an MRI to rule out any structural issues in his brain. He was diagnosed with epilepsy, and his seizures were intense, lasting 5-7 minutes each and leaving him disoriented for a while. He also had some urinary incontinence linked to the seizures.

Seizures in pets, both cats and dogs, are something we treat regularly, but the cause is often unknown even after extensive testing. Our approach? First, we work to identify and treat the root cause. Then, we used a keto diet, homeopathic remedies, Chinese herbal medicine, and CBD to support the healing process. In some cases, acupuncture gold beads are also beneficial.

Oreo, known for his gentle and empathetic nature, had always been a little anxious, especially when it came to life’s stresses. He even comforted others as a young pup, following in his mother’s footsteps as a therapy dog.

Physically, Oreo was in great shape, except for his seizures. We began treating him with Chinese herbs, CBD, and the homeopathic remedy Silica. Over time, we reduced the CBD and herbs, and Oreo was seizure-free until August 2024, when a stressful family move triggered a brief episode. Luckily, it resolved quickly with a boost in his homeopathic drops.

Since then, Oreo has remained healthy and seizure-free, showing how a holistic approach can make all the difference in supporting our pets’ health and wellbeing.

This post right here is your reminder to start 2025 out well & get your pets dental health checked!

Preventative dental health is an important part of pet care. To prevent dental disease, you can prevent an array of other bodily diseases in your pets. Not only that, but we can make sure our pets aren’t in any pain that we can’t visually see. We recommend getting their teeth checked at least twice per year and at The Natural Vets we offer free dental checks.

Things you can do at home to stay on top of your pets dental health:
•Get them used to teeth brushing! We sell our own vet formulated toothpaste, but coconut oil is also an incredible alternative, with its anti-bacterial properties.
•Give your pets safe bones! (Amazing for their teeth!)
•Feed a raw diet - where they can actually chew foods like vegetables/chunked meats etc.
•Use things like Oxyfresh Water Additive - or deer velvet spray, will help fight tartar build up and support a healthy oral microbiome (both available on our website store)

It’s really important that we take action on our pets dental health! We are still seeing many cases of pets having severe Dental and gum disease! Our wish is that we see more pet owners doing the preventative maintenance than we see them booking their pets in for multiple tooth extractions!

Our pets need their teeth, and they need healthy teeth and gums! Let’s make 2025 the year of dental health care!

We had the most epic day at our Christmas Party yesterday!
A cruise, followed by lunch, dessert, cocktails, sauna, a steam and hot tubs!
