I deliberately delayed starting this boy’s detection training until he was a little older. Socialisation, Building a bond & the best possible recall was my priority as a pup.
He is now 16 months old & we have started the journey.
He already blows my mind. Springers are not for the faint hearted. They are manic & full on but they work their nose like nothing I have ever seen before. He’s to the rest of this young man’s journey- I can’t wait to see how he turns out.

The Recall.
The most important thing you will ever teach your dog to do.
Though it is the most under practiced and misunderstood process with a lot of dogs.
Learning to how to be exciting, + how to be your dogs best mate will be the most important thing. Why bother coming back to something that is dull + unexciting?
Bourke is a 13 month old working Springer with more energy and drive than most people. Having the ability to recall him is super important to avoid unwanted behaviours + most importantly it’s lifesaving literally.
We have been working on recall daily since he was 6 weeks old. Note the longline. He has never been unrestrained unless it is an enclosed area.Having a long history of success imbeds the behaviour.
