COVID-19 UPDATE

Due to the current situation in Sydney we have made the decision, for the health and safety of our clients, staff and the community, to move both hospitals to contactless consultations, admissions and food/medication collections from Wednesday 5th January.

When you arrive at SGAH (9587 3599) or PHVH (9588 2088) please remain in your vehicle and call reception to let us know you have arrived and to confirm your best contact number.
When one of our vets is available , a nurse will collect your pet from the front of the clinic. The vet will then call you and perform the consultation over the phone. Once the consultation is complete, we will transfer the call to reception for payment over the phone. A nurse will then return your pet to you outside the clinic.

Please ensure you are wearing a mask, check in with our QR code, have access to a mobile phone and a credit/debit card for payment.

All dogs must please be on lead, all cats and rabbits must arrive in a pet carrier.

Medication/food collection -
1.When you arrive to the clinic, please wait outside and call us on SGAH (9587 3599) or PHVH (9588 2088).
2. A receptionist will process payment for your food or medication over the phone.
3.The item will then be placed at the front door for your collection.

You must remain at home in accordance with the government self-isolation rules if you:
▪️ if your are sick
▪️ are waiting on a COVID19 test result
▪️ have tested positive for COVID19
▪️ have been in close contact with a COVID19 case

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation 🐾

KEEPING YOUR PETS SAFE AROUND FIREWORKS 💥
We encourage all owners to keep their pets inside at night to avoid them becoming distressed by the loud noises. Pets can become scared and may run away from their homes/owners. In case of this happening, please ensure that your pets are microchipped and have their collar and tag on.
1) Keep your pets indoors.
There is no better way to prevent your pet from running away than keeping your pets indoors. Make sure to close and secure all windows and doggy doors to prevent your pets from finding a way out.
2) Cover all windows.
The bright lights of fireworks can be scary and disorienting to pets. Cover your windows with blinds and/or curtains.
3) Turn on some white noise.
A good way to drown out the boom of fireworks outside is to turn on some white noise inside your home. Turning on the TV and radio can help drown out the noise. If you have a young puppy, you can work on desensitizing your dog to loud noises. This needs to be done carefully and slowly.
Never try to “desensitize” your dog by taking them to a firework display! You will likely do more harm in traumatizing your pet.
4) Distract them with play.
If your dog loves being active, try to distract them with some active playtime. A game of tug-of-war, a new plush toy, or even a game of fetch might help them focus on playtime with you.
5) Prepare a safe place.
Where is your pet’s favorite place in the home? It might be a dark corner in a closet, on top of your bed, or their kennel. Wherever it is, make sure they have access to this place. Place their favorite toys or blankets nearby so they feel as comfortable as possible. Do not try to coax your pet away from their safe place, but check on them every couple of hours.
6) Stay home.
If you can, stay at home. Stay home to play, talk, and cuddle with your pet. Your simple presence can be your pet’s best comfort. Furthermore, by staying home, you will have a greater chance of preventing your pet from running away.
Share this post with friends and family to help other pet owners keep their pets safe.

MIMI 🐾

Mimi was thrilled to hear she was now protected from Leptospirosis after receiving her booster vaccine from Dr. Pauline.

But what is Leptospirosis?
Leptospirosis is a bacterial disease, often fatal, caused by Leptospira bacteria that are excreted in urine from infected animals including mice and rats. Dogs may come into contact with leptospirosis through contaminated stagnant water, such as in ponds or puddles, or through any direct contact with rodents. With the increasing number of cases in Sydney, we highly recommend vaccinating your dog against Leptospirosis.

MEOW, my name's Ned and I'm looking for my furever home 🐾

A few of my favourite things are playtime, treats and cuddling. I love to play with my best friends, Willow the Cavoodle and Chia the cat, so I would really like to go to a home with a friend I can play with. But when I'm tired, I love to curl up for cuddles with my human friends.

I need to be an indoor only cat or indoors with access to a secure catio.

If you think you have the purrfect home for me, please contact my people at SGAH on 02 9587 3599.
