Baby piggies!

We have two beautiful baby girls looking for their forever home. Born on February 18, these little sweethearts are ready to grow up with their new forever family.

As they're so tiny and fragile, we're looking for an indoor only home with no kids under 13. They'd be a wonderful addition to first-time or experienced piggy families, they'll need gentle and consistent handling as they age to grow up happy and friendly.

Billy and Bailey are STILL looking for their forever family, could it be you?

These sweet boys were rescued from an industrial area after being dumped there to fend for themselves. Still only babies now after a few months in foster care, we want to get these little cuties into a forever home to grow up with their new family. Unfortunately long haired piggies and piggies with red eyes take a lot longer to be adopted, the boys haven't yet had a single enquiry. 😭

Inner West Guinea Pigs has second hand cages and accessories free of charge included in the adoption fee of $70, it's a fantastic way to get started owning guinea pigs knowing you've got the right equipment. 👍

We have beautiful adult (approx 3 yrs) Zoe and her best friend baby (approx 8 mths) Abby are looking for a forever home together.

Zoe came to the shelter alone after losing her sister, and met Abby when she was surrendered because of accidental breeding. Abby successfully gave birth to 2 beautiful girls (who are available for adoption), and will be ready to leave them and find a new home from March 12. These girls have lots of love to give and are happy being handled by kids and adults alike.

While stocks last we are including free second hand cages and accessories for new piggy owners to get started.

Billy and Bailey are here to announce some big changes in 2025 for Inner West Guinea Pigs!

As we come into our 5th year of operation, there will be some changes to our services effective February 1.

1. No longer offering boarding or grooming services.

2. No new surrenders from rescues or the general public, we will ONLY be accepting surrenders from our previously adopted piggies as per their lifetime return guarantee.

3. Hay sales will continue only until March 10, get in and stock up before then! If you usually purchase hay from us get in touch and we can pass on a list of alternative sellers

4. All adoptions now come with the ability to choose cages and equipment from our selection of second hand options FREE of charge - while stocks last. This includes indoor cages, carriers and travel cages, towels and blankets, hideys, water bottles, food bowls, and much more.

Our adoptions will proceed as normal, and we will continue to sell ivermectin packs for routine parasite prevention and protection.

Great things come in threes! ❤️❤️❤️

Beautiful baby girls Dolly, Lotty, and Dotty are looking for their forever home. The girls are approximately 6 months old and are best suited to a home with no kids under 12 due to being very wriggly and not used to handling at this young age - they'd be great for an experienced piggy home, or some committed and caring first-time adult owners.

Due to Lotty having long hair that needs a trim every few weeks (and gets easily tangled on dirt/grass) they're not suitable for an outdoor home and need to live indoors.

These girls are shy but very chatty at dinner time, and as they mature their trust in humans and love for cuddles and attention will grow.

Our most recent surrender is a great reminder on why the correct diet is so crucial for guinea pigs.

These three sweet girls were surrendered into our care after passing through multiple homes that all "didn't have time" for them. Not knowing any better the girls have been mainly fed pellets and pellet mixes from Coles and Petbarn as their main diet. These products were advertised as for guinea pigs, and are cheap and readily available to people not knowing any better.

Despite being over 2 years old the girls are less than half the size of a healthy adult female, and the lack of appropriate nutrients has left them skinny with brittle nails, dry skin, missing fur patches, and so much excess calcium in their little bodies that they're squeezing out "chalk" in their urine as their bodies try and get rid of it. Yet these girls are still "lucky" as the majority of guinea pigs fed these foods generally don't last 2 years they have and pass away a lot sooner.

Guinea pigs should be fed a diet of 80-90% hay, along with daily veggies and a small serve of healthy pellets. Unfortunately in Australia there are no restrictions on what can be sold as guinea pig food, and the market profits off using cheap ingredients like seeds and grains despite the fact that guinea pigs cannot digest these properly or get any nutrients from them. Guinea pigs will eat and eat these foods and while they're polishing off full bowls they're still starving and malnourished. It's a slow and awful way to die.

If you are feeding guinea pigs in Australia the ONLY safe brands to feed are:
- Oxbow
- Burgess
- Science Select
- Vetafarm
- Sherwood
If feeding any other pellets or pellets mixes it's important to switch over to reduce the harm to the gut and overall health.
***EDIT - Bunny Nature is a newer brand that has guinea pig pellets that are also suitable for guinea pigs in Australia.***

These sweet girls are incredibly shy after their ordeals and will spend a month in foster care getting back up to full health before we begin to look at finding them a forever home. Let us know if you think it could be with you!

Looking for a new home for beautiful girls Kitty and Gin. 💖

Kitty and Gin were surrendered to Inner West Guinea Pigs as babies, and were adopted soon after. After living with their family for 3 years, allergies in the family have gotten worse to the point they've had to make the hard decision to put the girls back up for adoption again. They're happy living with kids and adults, and are sweet and friendly.

The current owners had this to say about the girls:

"Kitty is dark brown black with a cute swirl on the top of her head. She is a bit more shy but incredibly curious and when she hears food being prepared in the kitchen, she is the first one out to sniff and squeak letting us know she is there and ready to eat. Her favourites are lettuce, cucumber, green capsicum and celery leaves.

Gin is white with dark brown and red brown patches and is a total food lover. She loves tomato, lettuce, cucumber, green capsicum and celery leaves too. Gin is also a little more relaxed and quite happy to sit on your lap for cuddle for a while. "

Gin also has an old scar from a drained benign cyst on her hind leg. It's not causing any discomfort and hasn't changed in years but her future family should keep an eye on it as she ages.

These beautiful girls will come with their fantastic indoor cage set up and everything they need to be spoilt in their new home.

Looking for a special home for a special needs baby and his dad 💛

Popcorn is just over 5 weeks old and his dad Puffin is only 5-6 months old - still a baby himself. These gorgeous boys are very closely bonded and love to cuddle.

Popcorn was born with a birth defect in his front left foot, it causes him no pain and has been assessed by a vet, he just needs an indoor only home with padding under their fleece bedding. The boys haven't had the best start to life and are very afraid of people at the moment, so will need a patient gentle home with no kids under 12.

C&C grids make fantastic cages and playpens in all different sizes and shapes, and are easy to set up and pack down with plastic connectors.

Just add a base (corflute,vinyl,tarp,etc) and you've got an awesome cage ready to go!

After an AMAZING response to our post earlier this evening about Godzilla and Godzuki they've already found a home, let's see if we can do the same for Billy and Bailey!

Billy and Bailey were rescued after being dumped in an industrial area, these babies are only around 6-8 months old and are quite shy, but warming up quickly to love and affection - especially when there's veggies involved!

These boys' adoption fee also includes a donated cage and equipment kit with everything needed to give them an awesome forever home.

Godzilla and Godzuki were adopted from us recently but unfortunately due to an illness in the family the boys are coming back into care and need a new forever home to spoil them.
