After discussing with several breeders and narrowing down the possibilities, I've become aware that a snake from my collection, sold a year ago, may have had a false negative test for nidovirus. I'm still trying to process this information and gain a clearer understanding. I'm deeply devastated, confused, sorry, sad, and angry about the situation. However, I remain hopeful that it's a misunderstanding. Nonetheless, the risk of this virus spreading to another collection must be stopped.
As a precautionary measure, I've decided not to breed this season, and there will be no snakes for sale. I will continue testing all my animals to hopefully confirm that my collection is nidovirus-free. I understand this will be a lengthy process. In the worst-case scenario, if one snake tests positive, I will euthanize my entire collection.
I'll be reaching out to everyone I've recently sold a snake to, aiming to gain a better understanding of the situation. My apologies if I've missed anyone, but please feel free to contact me here on Facebook via Messenger or text if you have any further questions.
