Subwassertang, also known as Süsswassertang, is a unique freshwater plant that isn't actually a true moss or fern but is often mistaken for them due to its delicate, translucent green fronds which make it a popular choice for aquariums. Despite its name, which means "freshwater seaweed" in German, Subwassertang belongs to the liverwort family and thrives in low-light conditions.
Watercress as an aquatic plant
Watercress is Edible and can be used as an herb
Trimming any yellowing or decaying leaves of Cardamine Lyrata to promote healthier growth is recommended. Modern Aquarium's aquascaping scissors will make this task a breeze.
Under good conditions, Cardamine Lyrata can grow vigorously in the aquarium, so regular pruning may be needed to prevent overcrowding and maintain its desired shape.
A characteristic trailing growth form makes the Cardamine lyrata highly decorative, and ‘aerial’ roots often form on the plant itself.
Cardamine lyrata is actually a marsh plant from Japan. But it is also a familiar aquarium plant which thrives under water with 20-50 cm long stems.
