UPDATE: I found a home for Christmas!

Please….give it up for the perfect POSIEEEEEE

- Open to meet dogs
- Open to meet kids
- Affectionate & sweet
- Approx. 23kgs

Hi, I’m Posie and I’m looking a home of my own.

I’m a fit, good looking young lass that’s ready to embark on my future journey with my forever family by my side.
If you have kids at home, I’d like to meet them first! I adore people and love getting pats and scratches.
I’ve met a few dogs here and I show playful behaviour! So if you have another dog, if they are well mannered they can come in and meet me!
I’d love to be inside when you are home and feel like a real member of your family. I’m smart as a whip and excel with basic obedience training and more. I’m food motivated and very attentive to my handler, someone that has an interest in continuing my development in this area would be the perfect match for me.

I’d love a secure yard to claim as my own, and as long as you provide me with me with some stimulation whilst you’re at work, I’ll be happy. I’d be a fantastic candidate for a dog sport if that tickles your fancy, if not, I promise to be the motivational workout buddy you’ve been waiting for!

My purchase fee has been reduced to half price to encourage my adoption, and I’m already desexed which means I’m ready to pack all my toys up to come home with you today!

Bugs is a lovely sweet girl who deserves a family and home of her own. Black dogs are often overlooked. I love seeing her and she will do anything for treats, but I hope she is adopted soon. I would rather miss seeing her, knowing she’s found a good home.

UPDATE: BUGS HAS BEEN ADOPTED!
🐛 Bugs #34267 🐛
Bugs has been with us now for 4 months, making her our longest termer. In that time she has had ZERO Expressions of Interest. She is 5 years old, already desexed and ready to go home. She has watched dogs come and go, yet she remains patient. 🙌
Most of the time, you can find her relaxing in the sun, shining through her kennel. She will press her whole body against the bars for a pat. She has been known to sit on the laps of Animal Attendants and fall asleep, despite her size, she makes it work. 🥰
She is so smart, and has learnt so much with the help of yummy treats and TLC. She would make an incredibly loyal companion. If you are looking for a gentle and loving family member, we have the one for you. 💕

For more information about Bugs, call 4645 4790 or check out her profile here.

Something we hear clients say ALL the time is how much their dog LOVES sleeping by the front door, front window, back gate or the balcony. This is not something your dog loves doing. It is something it feels like it HAS to do to feel safe and secure.

It’s a human world and they simply do not understand why or that is safe with people, other dogs cats, cars and traffic constantly being so close to their territory and so they remain vigilant and on watch for it.
They don’t understand footpaths (a man made concept) and that the people were going to walk past anyway. They understand cause and effect. That when they went to the window... the person (or dog/cat whatever) moved on.
It’s a self rewarding behaviour, each time they check, go and have a look or stare out... they remain alive and so will repeat. Each time they bark and the person walks on they learn to bark to stay alive. Until it becomes compulsion and they HAVE to do it.

After a while the relentlessness of it will get to them. They will become hyper vigilant where their nervous centre never switches off which then turns into sleep deprivation which then alters their mood and personality. They can become cranky, anti social and bark more. The affects are seen long after the dog walks away from the window.

If it was a family member doing that behaviour... curtain twitching at the neighbours and shouting at everyone that went past. Then you’d be concerned for them and know how detrimental constant worry and aggressive shouting is on their health. So please don’t normalise this behaviour and trick yourself into believing it’s something they LOVE doing.

If you cannot manage the environment and block off access then take the time to create positive associations. When the dog gets agitated, call them away and teach them to settle and relax. When the dogs ears prick up, reassure them with calming praise. You don’t need to make it exciting, but calm and positive will help the dog learn that not every passer by is a threat through association.
