Meet Pearl

Pearl has been desexed, microchipped and vaccinated and is ready for meet and greets this weekend.

Pearl is a gorgeous 11 week old pure white DMH.
Pearl came to our emergency clinic as an only kitten and other than being hungry, dehydrated and a worm belly she was a healthy kitten so we decided to place her into the adoption program.

Her foster Hero nurse Emily has been caring for Pearl, this is a note from Emily:
Pearl is a very playful kitten. She funnily enough seems to love the loudest of toys to play with, She is constantly playing with the dog and when she isn’t, she is sleeping away. She loves to chase the vacuum light, mainly because she cannot hear it. She finds any place to snooze. She is getting good at adjusting to having no hearing. She knows when someone is around by feeling the vibrations. She has a very loud personality, when she can’t see you, she will meow around the house until she can see you. Although she may not fall asleep with you, you will wake up and she will be right there purring away.

Please note that Pearl is completely DEAF.

❤️ UNO UPDATE ❤️

Our sweet Uno is making herself right at home with her new foster hero Allison.

She’s exploring every inch of the house, loves her cat tree and toys and has fallen in love with Charlie the resident dog.
Allison says she is the sweetest little kitten and is so playful and entertaining.

Our Uno is still looking for forever home.
Uno is now 24 weeks old
She is a calico DSH
She is desexed, microchipped and fully vaccinated. She is also up to date with flea tick and worming.
Uno is litter trained, well socialised with other cats, dogs and kids.

⭐️ INTRODUCING ⭐️

Meet Dolly and Sabrina

Our newest neonates to enter the program. Dolly (black and white) and Sabrina (torti) are thriving and really starting to look like adorable little kittens.

they came to us as tiny neonates or as we call them “beans” and for the first time ever we were truly baffled by just how old they were, by weight they should of only been 2-3 weeks old. But they were eating, toileting and behaving like they were older than they looked, leading us to worry they were extremely underweight.

We have two experienced neonate carers for the program and nurse Hayden stepped up to shine and became Dolly and Sabrina’s foster hero. The girls are thriving in Hayden’s care.

Now fully weaned, putting on lots of weight, learning to use the litter and becoming more and more playful by the day, our tiny malnourished girls are thriving.
Both are very sweet and very affectionate and love people.

Once our girls are a safe weight they will both be desexed, both will receive all three core kitten vaccinations, will be treated with flea tick and worming and will be microchipped during their procedure.

We will then be ready to post them for adoption!

We can’t wait to watch Sabrina and Dolly find their forever homes and blossom.

📢Attention all foster carers, legends looking at getting into foster care and cat lovers.

❤️We are looking for a foster carer for our darling Lillian.

❤️Lillian has been in care for close to a year and we just can’t understand how she has had no interest to be adopted and what interest she has had has fallen through without a meet and greet.

❤️Lillian is a sweet, friendly, playful but mostly relaxed cat. Her main love in life is sun baking and naps.
Lillian is a stunning Calico DSH who is roughly two years old. She came to us at roughly 12 months old with four little kittens in tow. All her kittens of course found homes, but our Lillian has stayed with us 😞

❤️Lillian’s food, litter, flea tick and worming, bed and toys will be provided while in care.
We are more than happy to trial a foster to adopt if that’s an option.

❤️Please if you foster or if you are looking into fostering please let us know if you could look after Lillian.
❤️Her requirements are NO OTHER DOGS OR CATS in the home. She will need to be an only pet while staying with you.

❤️We also ask that you live within 20km of our Blaxland clinic and you have your own vehicle or means to get her to any meet and greets.

Zera (Katya) is thriving in her new home. She has bonded with her new siblings and is being taken care of immaculately by her family.

Updates like this is why we rescue. Watching them find forever happiness makes all the hard parts of rescue worth it.

“ A little update from Zera Katya: she has fully bonded with her step siblings, enjoying a littermate lifestyle as they all navigate adolescence together. There is much sisterly love shared and she is thriving on a predominately raw diet, big play sessions before mealtimes, and regular zoomies with her sisters. It’s hard to believe it’s been less than a month, and it’s like she’s always been here. Thank you to the person who rescued her, all of the hospital staff who saw her potential and helped her on her healing journey, and taught her what it is like to be part of a family. I am grateful to all of you. She is thriving and has oodles of cat mojo 😊”

⭐️ EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST ⭐️

Pearl is all grown up and is ready to be desexed and receive her second vaccination this week and will be ready for meet and greets next week.

Pearl is our beautiful pure white kitten who is playful and cheeky. She’s roughly 10 - 12 weeks old now and has thrived in foster care, Pearl is dog and cat socialised and loves people. She’s litter trained and very well behaved in the home.
We are looking for a dedicated home for that hopefully will have another cat or doggo to keep her company and is willing to care for a deaf cat who will need to communicate with her owners a little differently to other cats.

This post make us extremely happy to post. We are so proud of our Gremlin.

Gremlin is finally feeling relaxed and comfortable again at the hospital. Especially with his favourite Nurse Claire.
Turn the sound up to hear his sweet roaring purrrr as he enjoys a good cuddle on Claire’s lap.

Gremlin is looking for a calm, quiet and very special home with a single person or couple who have the time patience and dedication to work with Gremlin and bond with him.
Gremlin is a very shy cat and isn’t a fan of dogs, loud noises, busy environments or children, he is very flighty and will hide if he is scared.
He thrives however in one on one situations and in calm and quiet environments as seen here!

Calico appreciation post!

Facts about calicos

🧡To be called “calico”, three colours must be present: black, white and orange.
🤍Approximately one calico in 3,000 is male. So, if you see a Calico cat, you can almost be assured that it will be a female cat
🖤Further to this the tri-color pattern of a calico requires two “X” chromosomes. Male cats can’t be calicos because males need an “XY” pair of chromosomes in order to be male. The only way for a male cat to be born a calico is if he has an extra “X”
🧡Calico cats are thought to bring good luck in Japan. In past years, Japanese sailors would travel with Calicos onboard their ships for protection.
🤍In Germany, the word for a cat with calico coloring is “Glückskatze” or “lucky cat”
🖤They can be misunderstood- Calico cats are loving, sociable and loyal! but also have an independent streak about them that doesn’t require constant attention. Some people describe calico cats as divas or sassy which likely comes down to their independent nature- And independence and boundaries is not necessarily bad.

🤍Sisters Nori and Tori with the unique black patch over and eye and the other over an ear are loving, confident and playful girls. Nori makes the sweetest noises while playing.
🧡Sweet UNO is our slender, athletic kitten, full of curious and excitable energy that is always on the look out for adventure.
🖤And last but not least is Lillian, Lilly is our super sweet adult cat, who has been with us for nearly a year, lil is such a sweet cat who loves her independence and is looking for to be the only pet in her home. She’d make the perfect cat for a single person or couple.

Meet Pearl

My my my meet the adorable pure white cloud of fluff, Miss Pearl.

Pearl is divine, this sweet little 7 week old darling is currently in foster care with one of our nurses. She is healthy and growing strong every day.

One thing that we did notice very quickly is that Pearl is deaf.
Here are some interesting facts about pure white cats like Pearl.

🤍Pure white is the rarest color for cats, with only 5% of the cat population being pure white.
🤍 A cat’s fur is pure white when it has a dominant W gene, which suppresses melanin production. This gene is epistatic over other coat colors.
🤍 The genetic link between eye pigment, coat color and inner ear development are related.
🤍 White cats with blue eyes are at greatest risk for deafness. With two blue eyes: 65–85% of white cats are deaf.
🤍 One blue eye: 40% of white cats are deaf
🤍 No blue eyes: 17–22% of white cats are born deaf.

Deaf cats still make amazing companions!
Deaf cats become experts at utilising their other senses to navigate their environment and with a little extra care and training deaf cats live fulfilled, happy and healthy lives.

Owning a deaf cat

🤍keep them safely indoors at all times in their familiar environment. Without being able to hear approaching predators, cars or threats deaf outdoor cats are at a much higher risk of injury or fatality.
🤍 Use vibrations, use visual training methods and other ways other than your voice to announce your presence or communicate.
🤍 Avoid sneaking up on them, let them know you are coming.
🤍 Provide plenty of cat trees, higher advantage points in the home. Deaf cats love to use primarily their sight and love to survey their surroundings from a higher advantage point.
🤍 enjoy their often unique meows. Deaf cats are not aware of what they sound like or how loud they are, which means they often meow at quite loud decibels!

Enjoy them, they’re just as beautiful and loving as other cats!

🧡 SPECIAL UPDATE 🧡

Our sweet Gremlin, you may recognise this strikingly beautiful face and eyes.

Gremlin is back with us as he is a very particular cat and he is looking for a very certain type of home and person.

Gremlin was found at 3 months old abandoned alone in bushland on a large vacant block. He was taken in by one our vets to be admitted into our cat adoption programme. Gremlin was to be fair one of the most shy and untamed kittens we’ve cared for. He did great in care and when we thought he was ready we found a dedicated home to take him in. Unfortunately despite this families dedication and hard work there were factors in the house that just wouldn’t allow Gremmy to ever full settle.
Gremmy gets very overwhelmed by a lot of people being around him.
It has taken some time but he is back to his calm self in the hospital where is familiar.

What we’ve learnt about Gremlin

🧡 Gremlin is not a fan of dogs
🧡 Gremlin loves other cats
🧡 Gremlin is terrified of loud noises
🧡 Gremlin finds children very overwhelming
🧡 Gremlin gets stuck in flight mode when scared and can take some time to decompress.
🧡 gremlin loves the attention of a single person at a time, he loves to smooch, cuddle and relax with someone he feels safe with in an environment he trusts.

He needs:
🧡 a single person or couple that is home a lot
🧡 a calm and quiet environment
🧡 No dogs
🧡 No children or large family households.
🧡 an experienced cat owner
🧡 Stray rehabilitation experience would be amazing.

Ultimately we’ve discovered that Gremmy is a dream cat just for the right person! So now we’re asking you to please

Tori our calico sister is also still looking for her forever home, now approximately 5 months old the girls have been in care for months now.

They were originally posted as a bonded pair as they were very fond of each other when they were smaller, they still love each other but as they’ve grown they’ve discovered more independence and both developed such individual personalities.

Tori is a sweet kitten but more shy and reserved, she loves to play and entertain herself, she’s always on the look out for something to explore or for an adventure.
Tori loves cat trees and climbing up high.
She is also a sweet affectionate girl on her terms.

Tori is a healthy, good looking mainly white Calico, she is healthy, microchipped, vaccinated and up to date on all flea tick and worming. She is litter trained and well socialised and would appreciate a furry friend in the home to play with.
