Every year my family and I have our photo taken with Santa in matching pjs.

Due to us having quite a few dogs we have never thought about taking any of them with us for our yearly Christmas Photo. We never wanted to leave anyone out.

This year was different, we wanted to celebrate our next generation of stud boys JD and Squeak, who we bred and retained for our breeding program. This is the first time we have retained any males we have bred. They are both doing so well in the show ring so we wanted to do something different with them.

A last minute decision was to take Chris’ boy Levis with us, as he’s the OG. Our original and first stud boy, and the grand father to our JD.
Then we thought we can’t not take Dior, I mean she’s JD’s little side kick. They do everything together!

And I don’t even have to say why we took Sally!
She’s my girl! MY EVERYTHING.. and she’s my first ever GRAND CHAMPION! 🥳
But seriously look at her!!!! The BOSS BABE!! Struts around the shopping centre between two crazy young BCs like she runs the world!

And.. we never do things in halves, everything has to be at a next level.

The staff almost died when they saw 2 kids and 5 dogs walk in but were extremely surprised how easy and cooperative everyone was. We were in and out within a few minutes. We told them, you’re lucky we only brought the 5 and not the whole gang! 🫣🤣

My favourite comment by our friend was “only you would attempt this and make it look totally normal lol.”

Introducing Vulcan 💙

This Black/White Boy is very special. He was born very small, not moving and we didn’t know if he was going to make it. But this little fighter has beat all odds to be here. He’s gained significant amount of weight since birth. Every time I go in to check on him and “put him on the boob” he’s already made his own way there. He is certainly getting his fair share of milk. I’m so happy to see him thriving.

We will be taking expressions of interest on him in the coming weeks ☎️0417551128 or PM 📧

Update on my special girl Barbie:

I miss her everyday but I know she is living her best life with her new mom. She has settled in so well, and gets 💯 1 on 1 attention which she craves!

Written by another breeder and shared:

One of the hardest things ethical breeders have to do occasionally is rehome an older dog, or perhaps a younger one who did not pass their health testing.
This has become more common due to such strict council limitations with dog numbers. My retired dogs absolutely live their best lives with their adopted families, they also get way more individual attention, as they are not competing with 5 other dogs. When we meet up, l am remembered, but always take 2nd place to their new family.

In case there's anybody left that doesn't know this:

Adopting a retired Breeding dog/breeder placement isn’t a Rescue!

Retired breeding dogs from responsible breeders aren’t being “saved.” These dogs have been deeply loved and cared for their entire lives. They were chosen with purpose, raised with attention, and treated like family, not just breeding animals.

Ethical breeders invest their hearts into these dogs: they know their personalities, their quirks, their favourite toys, and what comforts them. Many sleep in the breeder’s home, get constant attention, and are doted on from day one.

When a dog retires, it isn’t because they weren’t wanted. It’s because they’ve completed their role in the program, and the breeder wants them to enjoy the next chapter, one where they can soak up all the attention in a home of their own. Their move isn’t a rescue; it’s a loving transition into a new life where they get to be the centre of someone’s world.

Rescue dogs, on the other hand, often come from shelters, the streets, or difficult situations. They truly need saving and a second chance. Both breeders and rescues do wonderful, important work, but the situations are very different.

A retired breeder isn’t being saved, they’re being celebrated. They’re moving from a home where they were cherished to another home that will spoil them just as much. It’s not a rescue story; it’s a love story with a new chapter.
