Pattern games π
The world can often be an unpredictable place for our dogs. Pattern games help to bring an element of predictability to our dogs lives which can help to reduce stress and build confidence in situations that are distracting.
In this video Cleo and her guardian are practicing the 1,2,3 pattern game at home without any distractions.
Cleo also likes to jump up with excitement, so this is also a good activity to help reinforce standing with all 4 paws on the ground instead of jumping up πΎ
Poppy is not a fan of the car, so today we brought her car seat inside to practice doing some place training, Poppy has already learnt the go to bed cue, so it didn't take her long to work it out. By teaching Poppy that her car seat is a safe and comfortable place, it will help her feel more comfortable when we progress to doing some activities in the car. Keep up the great work guys π
Today I met with Marley, He is a Minddog in training and he is absolutely beautiful. Marley is preparing for his public access test next year, today he did an amazing job disengaging from other dogs and people walking past and focusing on his handler. Go team Marley! Looking forward to our next session πΎ

You should always supervise your dog when giving these activities, to ensure they do not ingest something they shouldn't π

Today Grimlock and his guardian worked on some desensitisation games to help build his confidence on lead. We also worked on some loose lead training exercises and auto check ins. At the end of the session he had a go at a fun little puzzle, where he had to work out how to unravel the cloth to get the treatos! Grim is a clever cookie, so it didn't take him long to work it out! π
Relaxing around distractions
This afternoon Ned and I went to the park to practice relaxing around some environmental distractions.
Outside of the video there were cars driving past as they return home from work, children walking home, builders making noise and people on bikes and scooters.
Ned was able to observe these distractions from a comfortable distance, every now and then I'd throw him a treats to reinforce the behaviour.
