'Indie', 5yo OTTB mare in retraining. Day 10 of groundwork and a second short ride.
When an international dressage coach Rodrigo Matos visits and the only horse I have going is a recently started unfit ottb...still learned heaps!!
This is an OTTB, 5th ride for this boy after lots of groundwork.
5th ride for this ex-racehorse.
I've got a 4yo OTTB in for retraining, this is the 6th day in training and first ride.
First ride
Day 9, first ride for a breaker. I don't normally get on this quick, but she's been a good learner. (By the way, I'm wearing a peige shirt under that jumper, it wouldn't be me if there wasn't a wardrobe malfunction haha!)
Long reining
Day 9. Learning how to reach and turn
Problem loader
Before&After videos would have been appropriate, but this QH used to be very hard to load, and would run out backwards out of the float in shear panic almost hitting his head and falling off the side of the float. This is his 2nd loading session and while the backfoot is still sticking out, we're making progress. It is as important to have horses back off calmly as it is to have them walk in easy.
OTTB needing more training
This one has got a bit of class. Apart from being a bit tender after having shoes removed, he's starting to stretch down and relax in the back a bit. Owner wanted me work on his attitude both on the ground and under saddle.
This 6-year-old brumby hasn't been the easiest breaker, but he is on his way and should make a nice horse.
