Personality of the Autumn!

The nominees are – James McDonald, Tom Marquand, Opie Bosson, Wendy Roche, G*i Waterhouse & Adrian Bott and Hugh Bowman.

And the winner is – WENDY ROCHE

It was hard not to give it to G*i and Adrian, or possibly Tom Marquand but the reality is Wendy Roche brought a serious x-factor to the table following the win of Nettoyer in the Doncaster Mile.

To hear about the pizza eating, beer drinking antics of Netttoyer left everyone with a smile on their face.

The excitement was palpable and what made you appreciate Wendy even more was the fact she was virtually talking to the camera with few media in attendance.

Had it been a free-for-all on a ‘normal’ Doncaster day, Wendy Roche and Nettoyer would have been one of the lead items on the news.

Honourable mention for Personality Of The Autumn to James Innes, who won his first Group I when called off the bench to take the ride on Nettoyer, much to the joy of his fellow riders.

Working so diligently through difficult and trying times in the face of COVID-19 the racing industry, as a whole, deserves the highest of accolades for managing to keep the wheels turning and delivering spectacular results through the autumn.

FROM THE STEWARDS (4) – NETTOYER

Glen Boss, rider of Doncaster winner Nettoyer stated the mare raced flat in the Coolmore Legacy and, in his opinion, did not back up.

However, a post-race veterinary examination revealed Nettoyer had twisted its off-fore plate, quartered the heel bulbs of the off-foreleg and was lame (2/5) in that leg.

Lovely story about James Innes Junior.

Racing needs the occasional fairy-tale story. At home and overseas it’s an accepted fact that most races at the elite level are won by horses from major stables. Those stables traditionally have the best bloodstock to work with and often increase their chances by having multiple runners.
