The last 6 months of training with 3yo “Coalman Park Sir Lancelot”🤩 This little gelding has come so far and has become the most adorable, trainable little guy out there!

💡THURSDAY THOUGHT💡
Here is a clip of our Founder, Emma, working with her own personal gelding, Woody.
When Woody came to Emma about a year and a half ago, he was a horse that most people referred to as “marey”, “grumpy” and “lazy”. He was very shut down and unwilling to learn.
In reality, extensive x-rays showed that he was actually suffering from some pretty serious arthritis, bone spurs and an old fracture in one of his hind legs that had never been detected and/or allowed to properly heal.
Horses often become shut down when they try to communicate with their handlers through a display of certain behaviours, but are ignored and forced to keep going. If a horse’s behaviour is viewed as ‘undesirable’, people tend to blame it on the horse’s personality instead of trying to understand what the horse might be trying to communicate with them.
‘Undesirable’ behaviours don’t always signify something drastic, or that there is something physically wrong with the horse, however they DO always signify that your horse is trying to tell you something about how they are feeling, whether that be stress, anxiety, fear, pain etc.
Woody has since been retired from riding and spends his days grazing, babysitting the younger horses and getting lots of love and attention.
Emma’s journey into natural horsemanship all started with Woody, and look at just how far they have come! Taking time to build that connection with your horse and showing them that they are being seen and heard, is one of the most vital aspects of any horse’s training💗✨
🌟DID YOU KNOW?🌟
Teaching and practising tricks with your horses is actually a great way to include some extra mental stimulation and fun into their daily routine!
