Something I notice a lot in the dog training world is the “no nonsense persona”. Now don’t get me wrong, I love when people are themselves and don’t BS. However, I think there is a point where you head so far in the opposite direction of what you don’t like, that you yourself become what you despise.

Lots of “balanced” trainers scoff at the idea of the happy sunshine and rainbows +R methodologies and personalities. However, in trying to oppose this approach, a lot of I what I see is people acting like absolute as****es to to their clients and other trainers.

You don’t have to be a rude di****ad all the time to get your message across. Training dogs is fun and rewarding, I don’t get the need to be a f*ckhhead about it.

Basically everyone is trying their best and doing what they think is right. We’re all at different points in our journey and that’s something to be celebrated.

Anyway here’s me smiling with 2 cute dogs

Just finished up in Brisbane today which caps off my interstate travels this year. Thank you to all of my clients in Queensland and Victoria, I had an absolute blast.

Crazy to think that this time last year I was on a job site running cable, and now I get the privilege of travelling around Australia to help some amazing people and their dogs.

Honestly I’m so grateful, and not just for my incredible clients but also to everyone single one of you who supports me. You are some of the most kind and genuine people, and if all I have is a positive impact on 1 person and 1 dog, that’s enough to motivate me for a life time.

I genuinely appreciate you all, and can’t wait for what’s to come 🙏🏾👊🏾💛

The word punishment scares a lot of people. When we talk about punishment in terms of behaviour, all it means is an event/ action that reduces a behaviour.

So if you are a person who has tried to stop or eradicate a particular behaviour your dog exhibits. You have probably attempted punishment.

I’m my opinion, if a dog is displaying a behaviour that is dangerous to itself or other people. That behaviour needs to be punished. Giving the dog a fine line of what it can and can’t do is not only safer for the dog, but everyone around them.

What do you think ?

Apex Merch is live !!! This is my uniform, but for you… it can just be casual attire. Maybe you wear it to the gym, maybe you put it on whilst you go for a stroll, or maybe you even wear it whilst you are training your own dog.

Who knows ?

🏞️Dog Parks🏞️

Dog parks suck, they are literally the worst place you can go with your dog. This is a lesson that you don’t have to learn yourself. Let the thousands of dog owners who came before you, and made this grave mistake point you in the right direction.

I cringe with all my heart and soul every time I drive past a dog park or someone tells me they go to the dog park.

If you regularly go to the dog park, don’t be surprised if your dog is:
- Reactive
- Aggressive
- Fearful
-Anxious
- Excitable
- Doesn’t listen
- Insert every other behavioural problem here _______

A prong collar and a clicker.
Some may think that these tools are the antithesis of each other, or that one of these is GOOD and the other is EVIL.

Some may laugh at the clicker whilst others scoff at the prong collar.

Personally, I love both of these tools. When used effectively in combination, they can be an absolute game changer.

Rather than being divisive and controversial. I would like to inspire a healthy and productive conversation in regards to both of these tools.

If you have a helpful and/or curious thought, opinion or stance, leave a comment 😊

And don’t be a dick, if you do, says more about you than anyone else 😊✌🏾

🚨SAD NEWS ALERT 🚨

Murphy was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy (enlarged heart) in April this year. Since then, he had been on medication which was keeping him alive and well. However, it was only a matter of time until the medication would be rendered useless. Today was that day. He was not in pain for the longest time, until late last night and this morning.

Murphy was my teacher, my best friend and ultimately, the catalyst for what my life has become today. Any good that comes from what I do in my life can be attributed to Mr Smurph. Murphy literally

People often ask the questions “How long will this take ?” Or “will my dog ever be able to do *fill in the blank*?.”

Well my question to you is, how long did it take your to arrive in the place you are today.

You generally leave your destination the same way you got there.

I’m my view, these are the wrong questions and ultimately the incorrect mind frame to have when it comes to dog training.

Dogs don’t work in days, months and years. They don’t care about the way we structure the day and how long things will take. They are constantly in the present moment and maybe we could learn a thing or two from them 😊

Don’t wait till your problem gets worse, book a session today and we’ll figure it out together.

I get anxiety when I hear people talking about getting a dog with the same nonchalant attitude they would have if they were buying a pair of shoes.

You get a pair of shoes because you like how they look, they are trendy, you like the aesthetic you portray to others and in the moment you want them just because.

It seems to me, that the frame of mind people are in when they get a dog, is not much different to this.

Here’s some questions I would consider if I were you 👆🏾

If you are having a problem with your dog, first ask yourself. Can the crate fix this ? Can the crate help in someway ? The answer is almost always YES, in some way shape of form it can help.

It’s never too late for dog training, but it’s also never too early.

Finishing the weekend on a great session with this cutie.
Ellie’s owners are absolute legends who want the best for their dog. Going to a dog trainer is an absolute no brainer, you save an immense amount of time, energy and money in the long run. Dog trainers are generally people who have made all the mistakes you are going to make with your dog.

There is no need to learn from experience, when someone else can show you exactly what to, and what not to do.

I know it can be daunting letting somebody else tell you how to look after your dog, but if you are thinking about it, just bite the bullet, it’s worth it.
There are plenty of great trainers around.

One of the most common mistakes I see people making with their dogs all the time, is giving the dog too much information.

Whether this be talking too much, erratic visual cues or variance in voice tones.
People are constantly feeding their dogs useless information which for the most part, will hinder your ability to effectively communicate with your dog.

How can your dog differentiate between you speaking to them about your day at work, and you giving them a meaningful command ?

The answer is, it is very difficult. The words you speak to your dogs should carry meaning and purpose. Speaking less to your dog means the few words you do say, actually carry some weight. It also creates less confusion, as commands we give our dogs are the way in which we communicate what we want the dog to do.

Long story short. Keep it simple, keep it concise and I guarantee your dog will thank you for this.

Here’s a few of the brilliant pooches I’ve been training lately. I genuinely love dogs, and am extremely grateful that I get to help everyday dog owners, understand and develop stronger relationships with their dogs.

I hope to create a ripple effect of everyday dog owners, armed with the knowledge and skills to lead the best possible lives with their dogs.

It should be taboo to have a dog and not train it, just as it should be normal to train your dog.

The more good dogs their are, the better the world will be.

This is, (in order ) Maverick, Bailey, Wasabi and Buddy.
