🚨🚨 Elbow update 🚨🚨

Yesterday, I had my 3rd surgery since tripping over last August and requring a radial head replacement. This surgery was performed to remove a lot of scar tissue and extra bone growth that had my elbow locked at 90 degrees for the last 6 months.

2 surgeons and a 4 hour surgery went really well. I am now in hospital for a few days for pain management whilst using a machine to get my arm moving again. I will then be taking the machine home for a few weeks.

We are hopeful this will stop the bone from growing back again.

As we will not be doing any outdoor markets for a few months to allow me to recover, we will be running a few promotions starting tomorrow, so watch this space.

Why are dog treats so expensive when coles and woolies are so cheap? A very common question we get asked at markets.

For us as a small business who makes all the treats we sell ourselves, there are 3 main reasons:

1. Sourcing 100% Australian farmed* human grade or by-products of human grade produce is challenging as a small business (*exception of our New Zealand Green Lipped Mussels)

2. Preparing the treats to the standard that all of you and your pets have come to love. 90% of our treats need a lot of prep work, cutting off fat, excess meat, etc. Takes a lot of time. Example of a from raw to finished product in the photo.

3. The time it takes to dehydrate treats and electricity, etc, being used.

All our dog treats are made 100% natural with no nasties added and why natural dog treats are so much more expensive to treats you pickup in stores. If you look at a lot of the treats from large stores, there is likely to be more than 1 ingredient listed. Produce is quite often imported, or the treats themselves are imported.

📢📢 Elbow & Market update 📢📢

I've had quite a few of you asking how my elbow is recovering, and when our first markets are, thank you to everyone who has followed up 😊

Elbow: Although the surgery went really well and the radial head replacement has healed and I should be back to normal, my body decided it wanted to grow extra bone around and in my elbow (circled in CT scan above) which had locked my elbow in a 90 degree angle. This unfortunately happened 2 weeks post operation. However, we've had to wait 6 months from the initial break before it can be operated on to remove it, to give it the best chance of not growing back again.

I saw my surgeon this morning, and surgery has been booked in for the 13th Feb (may be changed to 27th Feb)

We have decided not to attend any markets before surgery and concentrate on getting stock levels up for when I'm in hospital and during recovery, so at this stage we may resume markets (or pop ups) from April or May.

We want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for the support throughout 2024. It has been an amazing year, and we can't wait to see what 2025 has in store.

From every like or comment on a post, to visiting us at the markets to say hi, have a chat or purchase, means the world to us, and reminds us why we continue to grow our little business.

The last few months have been a bit tough after I broke my elbow, but hopefully, after my final (🤞) surgery early in the new year, we will be back bigger and better than ever.

As some of you know, I broke my elbow in August, so our production of treats has been limited, which means we will not be selling our Advent Calendars this year. Sorry 😞, but don't worry, they will be back bigger and better next year.

What a great night last night at awards night.

🚨🚨 Surgery #2 update 🚨🚨

My surgeon was happy with my x-rays 1 week post 2nd op, which saw a plate, screws and internal fixator added to my bionic elbow.

I am finally starting physio tomorrow, so all going well, I will slowly get back to normal life over the next 6-8 weeks.

In the meantime, online orders are still being processed, and we have a couple of markets booked in.

Our 1st is this Saturday night for the 1st Wentworth Point Twilight Market. I will post details for this tomorrow, we can't wait to see you there

🚨🚨 Elbow & Business update 🚨🚨

Thank you to everyone who has reached out to see how I’m going and/or to offer help since my elbow operation 2.5 weeks ago, it’s been amazing, and I appreciate everyone.

I had a follow up appointment with the surgeon on Tuesday, and he was happy with the radial head he replaced, but not happy with where my elbow joint was sitting.

This unfortunately meant I needed further surgery yesterday, which ended up being as long as the first one, as he tightened and anchored both ligaments and added a couple of plates to stop my elbow dislocating in the future.

Anthony has been doing his best to keep stock levels up of what he can for the business, as well as making sure all online orders get out the door as quickly as possible.

We also have some great news for the chicken breast lovers, we have found a meat slicer that is slicing chicken to a reasonable standard (smaller and thinner slices) to ours, so chicken breast will be back in stock very soon. However, as it’s not hand sliced or our usual standard, we will be selling it as Chicken Breast (machine sliced) to keep it separate.
