🐱 Treating your cat doesn’t have to compromise their health! Many commercial treats are high in calories and low in nutritional value. Instead, try:
✅ Small pieces of cooked chicken or turkey (no seasonings)
✅ Tiny bits of tuna
✅ Freeze-dried meat treats

Remember—treats should make up no more than 10% of your cat’s daily caloric intake. For food-motivated cats, you can even use their regular kibble as treats throughout the day. 🍗

If your pet is overweight, we can help create a safe weight loss plan tailored to their needs. Book a weight consultation with us today! 🐾

🐕 Can you feel your dog’s ribs? You should be able to easily feel them with a slight fat covering—but not see them.

Looking from above, your dog should have a visible waistline, and from the side, the abdomen should tuck up. Regular body condition scoring helps detect weight changes early. Extra weight strains joints and organs, while being too thin may indicate illness.

Not sure if your pet is at an ideal weight? Ask us during your next visit! 🏥

🎾 Tennis balls may seem like the perfect dog toy, but regular chewing can cause significant dental wear. The fuzzy exterior is highly abrasive—like sandpaper on your dog’s teeth!

Over time, this can wear down enamel and lead to painful dental issues. If your dog loves tennis balls, use them for fetch only and put them away after play. Choose dental-friendly chew toys instead, and remember that annual dental checks are essential. 🦷

Book a dental check with us to keep your pet’s teeth in top shape!

🥏 While frisbee can be a great way to exercise and bond with your dog, it also comes with risks. The jumping, twisting, and sudden stops during play can strain cruciate ligaments, especially in larger breeds.

If your dog loves frisbee, start with low throws, play on soft surfaces, and keep sessions short. Always warm up with a gentle walk first, and watch for signs of fatigue. Consider lower-impact alternatives for dogs with joint issues.

Want to know if frisbee is safe for your dog’s joints? Book a check-up with our team!

✂️ Indoor dogs don’t naturally wear down their nails like those who walk on rough surfaces daily. Overgrown nails can cause pain, affect posture, and even lead to joint issues over time.

Regular trimming (every 3-4 weeks) keeps nails at a healthy length. If you hear clicking on hard floors, it’s time for a trim! Not comfortable doing it yourself? Our clinic offers nail trim services and can teach you the proper technique. 🐶

🐾 Is your indoor cat getting enough exercise? Cats need regular activity to stay healthy and mentally stimulated. Try interactive toys like feather wands, laser pointers (with a treat reward at the end), or treat puzzles.

Creating vertical spaces with cat trees or shelves gives them room to climb and jump. Even 10-15 minutes of play twice daily can make a big difference to your cat’s health and happiness! 🎾

Why is a regular vaccination schedule so important for your dog? 🐶💉

One of the diseases that the canine C3 vaccine protects against is parvovirus. This highly contagious virus damages a dog’s gut and immune system.

⚠️ Symptoms of parvovirus include:
❌ Lethargy and weakness
❌ Vomiting 🤢
❌ Bloody diarrhoea 💩
❌ Severe dehydration and cardiovascular shock

Affected pets may die even with veterinary treatment. The best way to protect your dog is by keeping them up to date with regular C3 vaccinations.

Before we vaccinate your pet, you may see us take their temperature – why is this? 🌡️

If your pet tolerates the rather ahem personal procedure of re**al temperature measurement, this information helps us assess their general health and ensure that they are a good candidate for vaccination. 🏥

If your pet’s temperature is elevated, it may simply indicate stress, or it could suggest an active inflammatory or infectious process that warrants further investigation before a vaccine can be safely administered.

“Uh oh, my pet was vaccinated a few weeks ago, and now I’ve felt a lump around their shoulders – should I worry?” 🤨

The good news is that if your pet was recently vaccinated, there’s a good chance that this lump is a harmless injection site reaction involving local inflammation where the vaccine was administered. These types of lumps generally resolve within a matter of weeks. 🐶💉

However, it’s always safest to have our team check any new lumps found on your pet so we can confirm the cause and whether any further treatment is recommended.

📅 If you've noticed a lump on your pet, book a check-up with our team for peace of mind!

Have you recently obtained a kitten? 🐱🎉

Don’t forget to keep up with your new feline family member’s vaccination schedule, which usually involves a vaccine and check-up at 6-8 weeks old, 10-12 weeks old, and 16+ weeks old.

At this time, we will also discuss other kitten care routines (such as desexing, parasite control, grooming, and healthy diet options) and will check your pet for common health issues such as ear or skin disease.

Plus, our team offers complimentary cuddles 🥰🐾 to every kitten we see!

📞 Book your kitten’s vaccination today and let us help them grow into a healthy cat!

Why do apparently healthy pets still require a full health check with their vaccination? 🤔

Firstly, this is because we need to ensure that pets are well enough to receive a vaccination, i.e. they’re not showing obvious symptoms of an infectious or autoimmune illness that could make vaccination unsafe for them. 🩺

Secondly, these regular health checks are often how we detect more subtle health issues, such as lumps or dental disease. 🦷

So, when it comes to your pet’s jab, we don’t just skip to the pointy end of the consultation! 💉

When life gets busy, it’s easy to accidentally lose track of healthcare schedules. ⏳

If your puppy becomes overdue for one of its early vaccinations (usually consisting of three consecutive vaccines at 6-8 weeks old, 10-12 weeks old, and 16+ weeks old), it’s best to consult our knowledgeable vets. 🐶💉

Depending on how overdue your pup is and how old it is, it may require one or two further vaccinations delivered 2-4 weeks apart to get its immune protection back on track.

📞 Contact our puppy-proficient team today to check your pup’s vaccination status and book an appointment!
