Regular deworming is essential for the health of your dogs and cats. Parasites like roundworms, hookworms, and tapeworms can cause a variety of health issues, from digestive upset to more severe conditions like anemia or organ damage. They can also pose a risk to human health, especially in children, as some parasites are zoonotic (transmissible to humans).
A veterinarian-recommended deworming schedule ensures that your pets are protected based on their lifestyle, age, and exposure risk. Puppies and kittens often require more frequent treatments, while adult pets typically benefit from regular preventive measures every three months. Come to Thornleigh Vet for a tailored deworming plan to keep your pets and family safe and healthy.

🔥HOT OFF THE DISPATCH SHELF……C2I vaccinations which cover dogs for Leptospirosis (& Canine Corona virus) are back in stock.
Leptospirosis is a serious bacterial infection of dogs, with a high fatality rate. It is caught through contact with the urine of infected animals – most commonly rats and mice.
Many of our client's dogs were vaccinated against Leptospirosis in 2022, and booster vaccinations are due after 12 months. Unfortunately, the vaccine became unavailable and only this week has it become available again.
Unfortunately, since the vaccination has been unavailable for so long, most dogs will need to restart the course, Needing a booster 2-4 weeks after the first vaccination.
The only dogs who will not need to restart the course are the ones who had their Vaccination course within18 months ago. The Vaccination needs to be given in 12 monthly intervals, however, a delay of up to 6 months is acceptable. Therefore, if your dog was vaccinated in, say, September 2022, it can be given the booster vaccination any time before April 2024 without needing to restart the primary course (a primary course is two vaccinations, 2-4 weeks apart).
Leptospirosis is caught through contact with the urine of infected animals – most commonly rats and mice although livestock and wildlife can also be carriers and shedders of the organism. Infection occurs through swallowing the organism or by it contaminating mucous membranes (eyes, mouth, nasal cavity etc) and cuts or scrapes on the skin. The greatest risk is if rats or mice are eaten by dogs, but rodent urine and water (puddles, pools of water, creeks etc) contaminated with rodent urine are also a major risk.
📞 Call now or book Online to have your loved ones booster C2i administered today.
