🐾 Did You Know November is Pet Diabetes Awareness Month? 🐾

Our pets are family, so it’s important to keep an eye out for anything unusual in their health. Diabetes in pets is more common than you might think, but the signs can be easy to miss. Here are a few things to watch for:

💧 Thirsty all the time and needing extra toilet breaks? You might notice you're refilling the water bowl a lot more.

⚖️ Losing weight but still eating? Pets with diabetes often lose weight because their bodies aren’t absorbing nutrients properly.

👀 Cloudy eyes? This is more common in dogs and can sometimes signal diabetes.

🦠 Constantly dealing with infections? If skin or urinary infections keep coming back, it could be a sign something deeper is going on.

🥰 Check out these adorable ringtail twins that were dropped off at the Ark yesterday! Sadly, mum didn’t survive 😔

It’s common to see possums that have been hit by cars or attacked by pets, but how often do we check if they have babies in their pouches? While spring is the main season for possum babies, they can be born at any time of year.

If you come across a dead possum, please check to see if it’s a female with young in her pouch. Ringtail possums usually have twin joeys, while brushtails typically have one.

If you find a mother with babies or any injured or sick possum, cover them with a towel, place them in a box or laundry basket, and give us a call on 02 9416 1300 or call 13 000 WIRES.

This simple step can help save these little ones and give them a chance to be raised and released back into the wild.
