Finding a veterinary team who is there from the beginning to the end of your petβs life and everything in between is becoming increasingly difficult. Our family owned veterinary clinic ensures your pet receives circle of life care by valuing our people who care for your pets, recognising the importance of both the emotional and physical wellbeing of your pet and customising treatments to best suit their needs. You will feel reassured knowing that from the beginning to end of their life, we are there with you every step of the way.
We provide circle of life petcare which involves us guiding you through your pets needs at every stage. We recognise the needs of a puppy or kitten are very different to those of a senior dog or cat entering their twilight and therefore customise care to your pets lifetstage.
Unlike most veterinary hospitals, we recognise the link between emotional and physical wellbeing of our patients and are proactive about reducing their fear, anxiety and stress during our veterinary visits. By helping your pets to be more relaxed for their veterinary care, we find that in turn reduces the pet owners stress as well.
Understanding that we must first look after the people who care for your pets to ensure they are able to provide personalised treatment plans that address your pets needs. We book longer consultations so our staff and clients are less rushed, your pet is given the time it needs to adjust to their visit and we avoid long arduous waiting times.
We embrace technology to improve not only our patient care, but also to improve our ability to connect with you our clients and keep you updated on your pets progress. We are always looking for new ways to enhance our communication and reduce our carbon footprint.
We are passionate about providing a place for future veterinarians & veterinary nurses to learn in a safe and forward thinking environment. It is not uncommon to find our staff mentoring nursing and veterinary students to help give them the best starts possible to their careers.
Focusing on a proactive approach to wellness care helps our furkids live longer and happier lives. We do this by providing recommendations around preventative care, supplements, nutrition, physical therapy, screening tests and more. We believe prevention is better than a cure.
Our driving force has always been to make a difference when it matters the most. Those moments include starting your puppy or kitten off on the right paw, providing preventative care treatments to avoid disease, helping you face a health crisis in your pet or providing a peaceful goodbye for your fur family at home surrounded by those who love them the most. From the beginning to end of their life, we are there with you every step of the way.
About our End of Life Services
Knowing when your elderly pet is in pain or suffering and when the time is right for their peaceful euthanasia is hard, especially if you don't know what to assess. We support families through the end of life stages by providing in home palliative care, acupuncture and euthanasia services so families can be less fearful of what is happening, more confident in making end of life decisions and ultimately provide their beloved pet with the final gentle goodbye they deserve.
Meet Jack, Jack is my heart dog. He crossed over the rainbow bridge in November 2016. He was 19 years young when I had to say goodbye. For many, many years, our home felt like a luxury retirement village for senior dogs. We had senior lad Jack, who had been a integral part of our family since he was 3 years old. He adopted us and convinced us to break him out of Renbury Farm in 2000.
Years later, old man Percy came into work in a terrible state. He was suffering from concussion (after an altercation with a car), severe dental disease (after a lifetime of neglect to his dental hygiene), arthritis and testicular cancer. He had no microchip and no one came forward to claim him. He would not have survived the night in the pound and so home he came with me and no one ever came looking for him - but that didnβt matter, because he had found his furever home with us.
Fortunately for my boys, they had a veterinarian and veterinary acupuncturist as their mum. Over the years they challenged my veterinary skills, taught me many lessons and showered our whole family with love.
I have faced so many of the challenges that senior pets bring us, pacing, urinary and faecal incontinence, loss of house training, deafness (which has itβs perks in storm/firework season), loss of vision, doggy dementia, questions on when is it the right time, pain management, anxiety management, concurrent diseases, quality of life and finally the grief that comes from loving them so dearly and then having to say one final goodbye.
Many of my patients are sensational seniors, and I aim at helping them to live our their twilight years with as much comfort and good quality of life as possible. As our pets age, it is easy to assume there is nothing that can be done to ease the aging process. There is however plenty that can be done to maintain their quality of life and ensure they are not just surviving but thriving. By utilising a combination of medications, acupuncture, diet, supplements, physical therapies and mobility aids we can significantly improve the day to day life of our senior pets.
Euthanasia translates to mean a good death, and I believe that one of the greatest gifts we can give our furbabies in the end is the gift of a good death, at home, surrounded by the ones who love them the most. Now this isnβt always possible, but when we know that the end is close and we have a plan, it is possible to make this happen.
It was the love and experiences that my boys Jack and Percy gave me which inspired me to create a service that is focused on providing excellent palliative and end of life care to our senior pets. After all, when they have been so good to us for so long, providing us with unlimited unconditional love, it is the least we can do for them when they need us the most.
