🌞 At the beach this long weekend? Don’t forget about your furry friends!🐶🐾

Here are some key beach safety tips for pets

1. Keep Them Cool: Bring a beach umbrella or find shade to protect your pets from overheating. Avoid the hottest part of the day (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.).

2. Hydration Is Key: Bring plenty of fresh water for your pets to drink—salt water can make them sick.

3. Paw Protection: Hot sand can burn your pet’s paws. Check the sand’s temperature or have them walk on cooler, wet sand.

4. Watch for Strong Currents: Not all dogs are strong swimmers, and currents or waves can be dangerous. Always supervise them closely around water.

5. Rinse Off Salt and Sand: After the beach, rinse your pet to prevent irritation from salt, sand, or seaweed on their skin and fur.

6. Bring a Leash: Even in off-leash areas, it’s a good idea to keep a leash handy in case of unexpected situations.

7. Avoid Beach Snacks: Keep an eye on what your pet might scavenge. Fish, shells, or seaweed can upset their stomach or be dangerous if ingested.

Her passion for animal care led her to complete a traineeship in dog grooming and earn a Certificate II in Animal Studies. She joined the HDCC team in 2023, bringing a wealth of experience and a warm, compassionate approach to her work.

Shannon’s dedication to grooming shines through in her work with dogs of all sizes and ages. She approaches each grooming session with kindness and care, always eager to learn new styles and techniques to enhance the well-being and appearance of every pet she meets.

At home, Shannon enjoys leisurely walks with her dog, Marvin, and peaceful moments with her cat, Peggy. Her genuine kindness, caring nature, and compassion make her an invaluable member of our team, where she continues to make a positive impact every day.
