Always good to see a species like the Golden Crowned snake do well in suburbia. This is mainly because they’re a nocturnal species, mildly venomous and not seen as much by people while they cruise around in the darkness.

We’ve got many of these in the local area lately, and over the decades we’ve been catching and relocating reptiles in the area, numbers have remained steady. 😊They’re usually called in as people thinking they’re a young brown or black snake, such as this one, which was hiding behind a garden statue when we arrived just after 10pm tonight.

This homeowner had quite the surprise when going to her wardrobe today, thinking she had a stray belt hanging down amongst clothes, she quickly realised it wasn’t a belt.
We were quickly called, and it turned out to be this chunky common tree snake😲🐍

The homeowner thought they had a juvenile red bellied black snake in their bedroom this morning.
But when our catcher Nathan Devaney arrived, he found this Eastern Small eyed snake.
This species is often confused with red bellied blacks on appearance.
They are not a large snake, as this one is an adult, but their venom is medically significant, rating it as a snake to be left alone.

Check out this cute baby Eastern Brown Snake found inside an Engadine home this week.

Was spotted by the resident in their home office while they were presenting a lecture to uni students via zoom.😬😳

Most people wouldn’t think it is a brown snake with these markings, but it’s normal for Eastern brown snakes on the coast to be banded as babies, and these markings fade with age, although some specimens can retain some banding into adulthood.

One good thing about winter in Sydney when the snake catching gets a bit slower, is that I get out of Sydney, change uniform, and work with my good mate Chris Peberdy, owner of Crocodile Safety Australia in the Northern Territory, to catch and release some big crocodiles.🐊 🐊🐊👍

We managed to catch 14 crocodiles from 3m up to 4.2m in 4 nights this week from the Kakadu National Park area. All were released back to capture location, after important information was obtained for Crocodile research, by getting measurements, sexes, and blood samples from them.

Managed to save this Golden Crowned snake from a pool this morning. These snakes are a nocturnal venomous species, and commonly fall in pools while moving around at night time. But they’re not considered dangerous, having a mild venom, and reluctant to bite mostly.

The first pic here was sent to me the other day by a friend, who says this snake was on his daughter’s driveway in Helensburgh, and they wanted an ID, it was an Eastern Brown Snake.
I also was sent this photo by others for an ID who saw it on a local Facebook community page. It moved on shortly after pics were taken. And they were worried of it being around still in the area.

I was called by a lady in Helensburgh this afternoon saying they have a large brown snake in their garden, and it’s just grabbed something.
This is the second pic, and it was actually the exact same snake, this is confirmed by scale pattern on back of neck, it was eating another bluetongue in the same street.

I got there in good time to catch it, and it spat out the bluetongue at the time I was there, but as the lizard was dead, I put it in the bag with the snake to hopefully resume its meal.

The third pic is when it resumed eating the bluetongue in the bag, before release😬

Here’s another non snake call out I had this morning in a school.
The cleaner opened the door, and saw what seemed to be a snake in the corner😬
When I arrived, I opened the door, looked in the corner, and I found a broken child’s toy sword handle😂

Sometimes when people have a fear of snakes, the slightest resemblance to one can make people think the worst.

None the less, all involved had a good laugh on a Monday morning🗡️😂😂

It’s the time of year we get heaps of baby Red bellied black snakes finding their way around the big world out there, and sometimes they’re making wrong turns. 😬
This is a little one from Menai, I’m releasing to find a safer option away from people’s homes🐍😊

Arrived at this massive warehouse today, to be told a snake went somewhere in amongst these racks of thousands of pallets of stock😩

So after getting the forklift driver to lift pallets for me, it was about the 20th pallet and half an hour, we found this cute little baby red bellied black snake.😊🐍

Had a call this morning from a lady in Heathcote claiming she was trapped in her house with a snake across her doorway. 😬
Nathan went to help the situation, and on arrival he found this lovely Diamond python that has had a big feed. So he relocated it to the bush to digest its meal in peace, and to let the lady also be able use her front door to leave the house 😬😂🐍

Red bellied black snake in a garage today in Heathcote.

When I arrived at this job, the homeowner told me that it was the exact same day last year that I caught a large Eastern brown snake at their place. 😳
So we all wished each other a happy anniversary, and will see if we are back again next year🥂🐍😂

Late night call for a snake inside a house at Waterfall tonight.

Was pleasantly surprised to see this cute little diamond python sitting on the blinds in the master bedroom.
The biggest mystery to the homeowners, is how it got into there😬😬🐍
