Dr. Elizabeth reflects on saying goodbye to a special patient recently — a gentle soul deeply loved by his family, and by us. Even in the sunshine, surrounded by care, these moments are never easy. But they are filled with compassion, respect, and love.
Euthanasia is one of the hardest parts of veterinary medicine, for both families and vets. It is also one of the greatest acts of kindness we can give — helping a pet pass peacefully, with dignity, and without pain. 🌈
Thank you to the family for your grace and trust. And rest peacefully, sweet boy. You were deeply loved.

Happy Earth Day from TPS Veterinary Hospital! 🌏

At The Pet Specialists and , we know that working in a clinical environment means we face unique challenges when it comes to sustainability — but that doesn’t stop us from doing everything we can to reduce our footprint while caring for your pets.

Here’s how we’re making a difference every day:
☀️ Harnessing the sun: We’ve recently installed solar panels to help power the hospital with clean, renewable energy.
💡 Smart lighting: Our lights are on auto shut-off when not in use, helping reduce energy.
📦 Sustainable packaging: We use reusable shopping bags for pet food and medication, and offer paper bags for medications where possible.
♻️ Recycling champions: We’re fully on board with Northern Beaches Council’s yellow, red, and blue bin system, and our super nurse Clerinda goes the extra mile by collecting cans for extra recycling!
🥫 Better pet food packaging: We prefer tinned food over pouches because they’re easier to recycle and better for the planet.
💦 Zip taps: Our hydro zip taps reduce water wastage with its energy efficient cooling system and the filter removes the need plastic bottled water.

We’re proud to be taking steps toward a greener future while continuing to provide top-quality care for your furry family members. Every little action counts — for our pets, for our people, and for the planet.

P**i’s Path to Clearer Days! 👀
Sweet P**i is a regular visitor to our medicine team, where he’s been receiving expert care for his diabetes. As part of her journey, P**i developed mature cataracts in both eyes — a common complication of diabetes mellitus — leading to cloudy vision, discomfort, and significant sight loss.
Thankfully, Medicine Specialist Dr. Josh knew just who to call on and referred P**i to our ophthalmology team for a cataract assessment. Cataract surgery (phacoemulsification) is the only treatment that can restore vision, and early intervention is key.

We’re thrilled to share that P**i was an ideal candidate for surgery — and it was a success! She’s now bright, happy, and seeing the world with fresh eyes.
Here’s to a clearer, brighter future for our lovely boy!

Meet Emmi, One Of Our Canine Rehabilitation Practitioners!👐

With 17 years of experience as a veterinary nurse, Emmi brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to our team. Originally from Helsinki, Finland, she has spent the last two years specializing in canine rehabilitation, recently earning her Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner qualification from the University of Tennessee.
Emmi is also a proud dog mum to Bu, her sweet elderly rescue greyhound!
