One of our patients long weekends was almost ruined by an unwanted guest. Fortunately for Lola her keen eyes family noticed this one and swung past to have this tick removed!! They got here so quickly we needed to use the microscope to visualize it properly!!!
While it is winter, keeping an eye out for ticks is still something we encourage if your pet isn't on tick protection. This tick was picked up in the local Dundas Valley, and one of our staff used to routinely find ticks on her dog after walking the bush trails (then Nexgard came along!).
Question: Where does a dog go when it's lost its tail?
The answer... At the end of this post about the beautiful puppy Briar!
Briar came in on Saturday for a recheck of her cystitis (more commonly known as a urinary tract infection). The results of her urinalysis (using our fancy new urinalysis machine) showed trace elements of the infection, so she hadn't quite cleared it yet. Fortunately a quick ultrasound of her bladder showed nothing exciting at all! Some antibiotics should clear that remaining infection and see her back to normal in no time!
Extra cudos to Briars mum! Not only does she ensure that Briar is kept happy and healthy, she has also been busy teaching Briar about the world and how to interact with it. Puppies don't just need to learn how to sit on command and come when called. They need to be taught doggy manners so they can socialize appropriately with other doggoes and humans. Exposing them early to all that they will approach in life also helps to set them up for success. Her hard work definitely shows as Briar is one beautifully balanced puppy!
Oh, and before we forget, the answer is: they go to the retail store 😂
Sometime our patients are just too happy to come see us and we cannot get photos without them being blurry. Dollar is a prime example :) Please enjoy a happy healthy pupper vidio!
Dollar came in for puppy vaccinations and left with the diagnosis of "a good boy"!
A stray rabbit was brought into our clinic yesterday. She has got a distinctive fur line on her back probably from an old injury. We hope her owner would come forward soon. #StrayRabbit
