✨Meet one of our incredibly, brave German Shepard patients, Indi 🐶

Unfortunately, miss Indi suffered an accident that left her with a deep laceration on her front right leg, just above her wrist pad.

Indi was immediately rushed to the where she was admitted overnight for monitoring and hospitalisation. Upon assessing her injured leg, the vets determined that indi needed surgery to repair the tendon.

The surgery was a success!!! However, Indi needed to keep a splint and bandage in a specific position for her leg to heal correctly, which required strict bed rest.
That’s where we became involved. Indi’s bandages needed to be changed weekly for 6 weeks to ensure the healing process was on track.

We couldn’t be prouder of Indi’s owners for their constant love and dedication. They brought her back weekly so Dr Victoria and Nurse Jez could assess, clean her wounds, and apply new bandages.
Over time, the team at 4paws grew very fond of Indi, and although we were very pleased to see her healing, we were also sad to see her for her last bandage change visit.

As an update, Indi is on the mend. All her bandaging days are over, and she is continuing to live as a strong and wilful German Shepherd should. 💙🐾♥️

We know clipping your pet’s nails can be daunting, and more often than not, a very difficult task for both parties involved! So here’s a little guide on how to limit the scratches incurred during playtime and snuggles:

- clip from the very tip of the white part as shown in Image 2
- avoid clipping the quick at all costs because it is not dissimilar to cutting the pink part of a human nail - it bleeds and it hurts!
- less is more!
