๐ถ Dogs Can Smell When Weโre Stressed ๐
A 2022 study suggests that dogs are able to detect stress markers through volatile organic compounds excreted in our breath and sweat.
What does this mean?
๐ When you experience compounding stress you won't necessarily notice it (nor will you be able to smell it) however your dog will be able to detect the subtle changes.
๐ These compounds suggest to your dog that thereโs danger in the environment, youโre under threat and to remain alert and vigilant.
๐ Not only are they able to detect our stress, but this also impact their own stress levels, with another study finding that owner personality traits impacted cortisol concentration found in hair samples.
Dogs are able to detect our stress levels. And their stress levels mirror ours.
If your dog is experiencing chronic anxiety and dietary changes, herbs and holistic animal therapies havenโt proven successful, maybe itโs a good time to look into your own self care practices as a means of assisting with the healing of your dog.
