Congratulations to Lisa Blood from Vets4Pets; Sharon Geeson from Vetwest Animal Hospitals Whitford; and Allison Lennox from Montrose VetCentre and New Norfolk Vet Centre, who are the first three Practice Managers to complete the PEAK Practice Manager Development Pathway!

We launched PEAK in 2023, with 175 Practice Managers across VetPartners clinics participating in the program which focuses on building leadership skills that are specific to the veterinary profession.

This pathways aims to further develop capability in operational efficiency, people leadership, financial management and more! Some of the feedback we received upon completion:

- Lisa said that she loved the opportunity to bring all her knowledge together as well as understand more about financials and how to actively analyse and understand data.

- Sharon has been able to readily apply some of the learnings to her day to day role, including using margin reports and margin bench marks; managing stock and COGS; and understanding the little things that can make a big impact.

- Allison appreciated being able to work through the program at her own pace without feeling rushed, and overall found the learning experience beneficial to help her feel more comfortable in her role.

We look forward to supporting more team members to complete the program over the coming months!

Our graduate vets play a huge role in the future of our industry. This is in no small part because of the wonderful clinics, supervising vets, practice managers and teams who look after and nurture the education of our grads in clinics.

In 2023 we introduced two new award categories in our VetPartners Excellence Award that recognises both a Graduate Mentor of the year, acknowledging the impact that mentoring has on the development of our small but mighty cohort of graduate vets; and a Graduate of the Year who demonstrates a growth mindset, curiosity to learn and contributes to a positive clinic team culture.

Dr Jolly Xu, from Virginia Family Vet in QLD was our very first vet to receive the VetPartners Graduate of the Year award, and says her experience as a graduate has been rewarding and extremely positive.

“I was lucky to have very supportive mentors both in-clinic and externally through the VetPartners new graduate program, and receive regular guidance during monthly catch-up sessions on challenging cases or consulting situations. These discussions have provided me with solid foundations for my career as a veterinarian.

With my $3,000 prize, I plan to attend webinars and workshops on various topics to further explore my veterinary career.”

Ahead of , we chatted to some of our talented vets across our VetPartners community to understand what attracted them to the profession.

The thing all these vets have in common (or rather don’t have in common) is where they see their careers taking them. When it comes to a veterinary career, there is no one pathway for all, and one thing we are passionate about is supporting our people with choices to build their veterinary career.

Are you an eagle, owl, peacock or dove?

Client interaction is essential in veterinary practice, so in their first cohort wide webinar, our graduates focused on understanding communication styles as a way to enhance their ability to connect with, and support our clients.

Thanks to our very own Taylor Doherty for facilitating this session and providing valuable insights and strategies to set our graduates up for success in the consult room!

The inaugural VetPartners NAC (Nurse Advisory Committee) kicked off today led, by Tayla Atkinson. The committee was formed earlier this year, to complement our well established Veterinary Advisory Committee.

Fun fact: the committee has a collective 112 years of veterinary experience!

First up on the agenda was an ideation and strategy session, including team building, and prioritisation of guidelines, standards of care and policies the committee will work to support best standard of practice and patient advocacy and care for our clinics.

An immediate focus for the Nurse Advisory Committee is providing recommendations around patient sterility and asepsis control. Stay tuned throughout the year as we share our progress!

Tayla Hayes, Jessica McKimm and the NSW/ACT Ops team were out and about in Sydney this week, hosting dinner for our 2024 NSW/ACT grads.

It was a wonderful opportunity to welcome our new grads, and chat in a more relaxed (scrubs off!) setting. The evening was full of positive vibes, with our grads eager to share stories about their experience of the program so far. Thanks to everyone for attending!

This week the VetPartners Veterinary Advisory Committee (VAC) have joined forces in Sydney. Yesterday they headed out to iM3 Australia for a demo of their new equipment, and dropped into North Shore Veterinary, Specialist and Emergency Hospital for a tour.

The committee have a jam packed agenda with a focus on radiology (thanks to Peter Fielding from Radiology Solutions Pty Ltd sharing insights on computed radiology vs digital radiology); using data insights to improve the quality of patient care; and will discuss the 2024 pipeline of standards of care!

The VAC have now launched over 20 standards, guidelines and supporting resources to help drive a high quality of patient care across all our VetPartners clinics and hospitals!
