Stress free x-rays!! NO sedation, just one sleepy baby 😂🥰❤️

This little munchkin’s name is Keeta!! Keeta was born with a condition called “Swimmer Syndrome”. This is a condition that can be found in young kittens causing their hind legs to splay out to the side, a bit like a frog 🐸

During the treatment plan and consultations, our nurse and veterinary team took radiographs of Keeta’s hind legs (as captured in these images 😂) and treated her condition by wrapping her hind legs together for two days, resting for 1 day and wrapping them again 🦵

After one week… Keeta came in for a revisit and her “Swimmer Syndrome” had significantly IMPROVED!!

When two worlds collide… 🥰😭 When Poli 🐶 met Possum!!🐱

Poli is a dear blind doggo with diabetes and many other health issues who frequently stays with us when things get a bit much. Possum is a rescue cat also with a multitude of issues including leg deformations that will require surgery. Possum was desperate to take a closer look at Poli after watching her in the clinic from afar for several days 🥹🥹

🐾 Did You Know? 🐾

When dogs undergo a caesarean section, there’s a bit more anatomy involved than you might expect! Unlike humans, dogs have a bicornuate uterus—meaning they have two uterine horns instead of a single uterus. This unique structure allows dogs to carry multiple puppies at once, with each horn holding several developing pups.

✨ Each puppy is encased in a protective sac that’s part of the placenta. In a natural birthing process, the mother dog will remove this sac and often consume it. During a c-section, the surgeon removes this sac manually.

☁️ Once the sac is removed, nurses vigorously rub the puppies until they vocalise. This rubbing action helps to clear fluid from their lungs and gets them ready for their first breaths!

⏰ During natural labour, mother dogs typically give birth to a new puppy every 30-60 minutes. If there’s a delay of over an hour between puppies, or if she stops having contractions, this could be a sign she needs extra help. That’s when it’s time to contact your veterinarian for guidance.

❤️ Knowing what to expect can make all the difference in helping mom and pups through a safe delivery

🌸This beautiful girl, Coco, had two puppies 3 hours apart, and another delay of 3 hours from her last birth. Coco needed emergency surgery, as we knew she had more puppies to deliver based on radiographs taken while she was pregnant. She underwent a c-section where we found five gorgeous and healthy puppies waiting for us! The nurses ensured all the puppies took their first breaths, and this new mum went home with a whopping 7 darling babies!

Myth Busters: Halloween Edition: 🕷👻

Myth 1: Halloween sweets are safe for your pet 😱

The Truth: This one’s a big NO! Many sweets, especially chocolate, are toxic to animals. Please always keep sweets out of reach and stick to treats made especially for animals. 🕸

Myth 2: Pets Can’t Enjoy Halloween! 🤡

The Truth: Many animals can enjoy Halloween just like we do! Whether it’s giving them special treats, or letting them join in on the fun, pets can be part of the celebration—just make sure it’s safe for them! 🕷
