As we ring in the New Year, don’t forget to keep your furry friends safe and calm during the fireworks:

🐾 Keep them indoors in a quiet, secure space.
🐾 Use calming aids like a thunder shirt or soothing music.
🐾 Ensure your pet’s ID tags and microchip details are up to date, just in case.
🐾Make sure your backyard is secure and gates are securely locked.
🐾 Distract them with treats, toys, or a cozy cuddle session.

🐾 Puppy Booster Time! 🐾
This adorable little one, Lucy came in for her booster vaccinations! 🐶💉 Keeping a wriggly puppy still can be tricky, but we have a secret weapon: peanut butter! 🥜✨ A little smear around their mouth, and they’re too busy enjoying the treat to notice what’s happening.

Keeping pets happy and stress-free is always our top priority! 💙

With scorching temperatures predicted for Sydney tomorrow, it’s important to keep your pets safe and comfortable. Here are some essential tips:

🐾 Keep pets indoors in a cool, shaded area as much as possible.
🐾 If they must be outside, provide plenty of shade and iced water bowls to keep them hydrated.
🐾 Avoid walking pets during the hottest part of the day. Stick to early mornings or evenings.
🐾 Check on them frequently for signs of overheating: excessive panting, drooling, or lethargy.
🐾 Never leave pets in parked cars—it can become life-threatening in minutes.

🐾 Patient Spotlight: Oscar the Pug 🐾

Oscar, our sweet 9-year-old pug, came to IVH recently for dental surgery. During his pre-op check, his owners shared with Dr. Anna that he’d been showing signs of urinary trouble—straining to urinate and even experiencing blood in his urine (haematuria). Concerned, we decided to investigate further while he was in for his dental.

A urinalysis and radiographs revealed the culprit: bladder and urethral stones, causing Oscar discomfort and difficulty. Surgery was necessary to remove the stones, and we’re thrilled to share that Oscar handled it like a champ! 💪 The procedure was a success, and Oscar’s now on the mend, happy and healthy again.

We’ll be keeping a close eye on his toileting habits for the rest of his life to ensure his continued comfort and well-being. 💙 Here’s to many more happy and healthy years, Oscar! 🐶💫
