Bon voyage to Dr Maddy and farewell to Dr Vanessa.

The new graduate program is designed to provide new graduates with a solid foundation in veterinary practice, allowing them to take their careers in whichever direction they choose.

Some veterinarians, like Dr. Nicky, prefer to stay in one place (just teasing, Nicky), while others like to spread their wings. The true intention of the New Graduate Program is for participants to eventually venture out on their own paths.

This month, we bid farewell to Dr. Maddy, who is continuing her veterinary career in England, and Dr. Vanessa, who is exploring the industry side by joining one of the large insurance companies.

We wish both of them all the best and hope they will stay in touch.

Tick Found on Indoor Cat in Bellevue Hill 👀

A gentle reminder that with changing weather patterns, it is difficult to accurately predict the 'seasonality' of ticks. Case in point, a tick was found on an indoor cat who lives in Bellevue Hill yesterday! 🐾

This is a timely reminder that we recommend flea and tick prevention for ALL cats and dogs even during the cooler months.

Tomorrow (Saturday 1st June) most of our staff will be at our annual staff training day. At Vet HQ every day is a school day, and we are proud of our commitment to continuing education.

We will still be open from 9am to 1pm, however we will have limited staff working in the clinic.

Please be reminded that dogs are REQUIRED to be wearing a COLLAR with identification (name) and a method of contact (phone number) at all times when outside the home.

This is a legal requirement by the council and failure to do so may result in a fine by the council rangers.

🐾 Behind the Scenes: Our Vets' Dedication to Continuing Education 🌟

At VetHQ, our vets go above and beyond to ensure your pets receive the best care possible. Here’s a glimpse into their hard work studying, attending classes and conferences outside of clinic hours:

Studying 📚: From online courses, webinars to attending conferences, our vets are always learning the latest in veterinary medicine. Some ongoing and completed courses include emergency & critical care, feline medicine, surgery and behavioural medicine.

Hands-On Training 🏥: They participate in workshops and advanced training to master new techniques and treatments such as abdominal, cardiac ultrasound workshops and surgical workshops.

Research and Reading 📖: Staying current with veterinary journals and research papers is a constant effort. They constantly improve and learn from each other through fortnightly vet meetings to discuss new research and review challenge cases.

These are only an example of SOME of the work that our vets have been doing over the last few months. The benefit of working in a collborative clinic is that this knowledge will be shared amongst the entire team ensuring that your pets are always in the best hands and receive the most up to date care we can provide.
