a no-kill philosophy, with a focus on finding animals their forever homes through our Foster to Adopt Program. This program is key to our organisation’s success, as it rehabilitates our animals in preparation for their new life. We focus on:
- reducing the number of unwanted and abandoned animals through rehoming
community education
- desexing initiatives, and
- liaising with other welfare organisations

We do this with a direct purpose, which is working towards the introduction of new legislation to give greater protection to all animals. This also serves to provide further direction for other registered rescue organisations. Maggie’s Rescue cares for all our animals through our amazing network of foster carers. They provide a safe and nurturing home for animals in need until their forever home is found.

Boy Scout may have FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus), but don’t let that scare you! FIV is only passed through deep bite wounds, so it’s not contagious in regular cat-to-cat interactions. 🐾 With proper care, FIV-positive cats can live happy, healthy lives.

He's as sweet as sugar, loves other cats, and could likely get along with a dog friend too! 🐶💕

We’re so happy to share that we've found an urgent carer for our sweet senior girl, Bam Bam, but now we're searching for a forever home where she can truly thrive! 💕

Bam Bam is 12 years young, full of sweetness, and while she moves a bit slower, she still loves her walks! 🚶‍♀️ She does best with medium to large dogs and is not too fond of cats.

This lovable lady deserves a peaceful, loving retirement where she’ll be spoiled and adored for the rest of her days. 🏡💖

💫 Meet Miyagi and Padme — the ultimate fighters.

Abandoned in a box, sick and struggling, these two little souls defied the odds. One of their siblings didn’t make it, but thanks to a lot of love and care, these two pulled through. We weren’t sure if they’d survive, or if they’d ever see again, but now they’re the happiest, most loving kittens you’ll ever meet.

Miyagi, with limited vision, trusts Padme to guide him through the world. They are inseparable — when they’re apart, they cry until they’re together again. Their bond is truly something magical. ✨

They can be energetic, playful tornados but when the madness dies down, they’ll be right by your side, needing your constant love and cuddles. Their loud purrs are their way of saying “thank you.”

They’ve been through so much and deserve a chance to be loved forever. They may have vision impairments but that doesn’t mean they’re not worthy of a happily ever after, we need your help to share their story and hopefully find that family that can love them as they are.

Trust and believe their love radiates!!! 💕

🚨 THIS IS NOT A DRILL! 🚨 We desperately need FOSTER HOMES for two amazing pups: Pilot and Bam Bam – URGENTLY!

Sadly, we’ve had NO applications for Pilot, who urgently needs to return to our care, and to make matters worse, Bam Bam needs a new foster home THIS WEEKEND! 😔

Here's what you need to know:

Location: Sydney

🏡 Home: Ideally, someone who’s home more often than not and can commit to minimum 6-8 weeks care

🐶 Bam Bam: A sweet 12 year old senior staffy who needs limited stairs. She can live with another dog but would prefer no cats. She’s patient and adjusting well to daily life.
🐶 Pilot: A 2 year old terrier needs a carer who can help with his training. He’d be happiest in an adult only, pet free home.
👫 Both: Might be vocal while settling in

🏴‍☠️ Meet Quiche — The One-Eyed Velcro Pup!

Quiche is a cuddly, playful sweetheart who sticks to her humans like glue. She came into care with a damaged eye, which had to be removed — but pirate life suits her perfectly, and it hasn’t slowed her down one bit!

She’s mostly a couch potato, with short bursts of playful energy (followed by more snuggles). Fully toilet trained and even office-ready, Quiche thrives when she’s near her people — a work-from-home setup or dog-friendly office would be ideal.

She’s best as the only pet but a chill male companion could work and would do better in a home without young kids due to her playful nippiness.

🎶 No soundtrack required—Dolma brings her own band! 🎶

Meet Dolma, our latest rescue! This 3-year-old Frenchie has quite the vocal range—and we’re not talking about singing. 😆 As you can hear, she’s a bit on the noisy side.

Today, Dolma is undergoing BOAS surgery to help her breathe a little easier (and hopefully stop her from turning into a one-dog symphony 🎺).

This sweet girl came to us from Campbelltown Council Animal Care Facility, where her owners, despite knowing she was there, chose not to pick her up. With evidence of having had a litter or two, it’s clear she’s been bred and discarded, which sadly isn’t all that unusual. French Bulldogs are often exploited, and we’ve found ourselves becoming a bit of a safe haven for these flat-faced cuties. 😔

Dolma’s recovery will take a few weeks, but so far, she’s proving to be a superstar! 🌟 Let’s give her all the love and good vibes as she heals. ❤️

Meet Urkel: a tiny pup who was separated from his siblings WAY too soon, but don’t worry—he’s catching up fast! Thanks to his amazing foster, Grace at @the_hound_lounge , he’s learning all the doggie skills he missed (he might even teach YOU a few). 🐾 Urkel’s looking for a savvy family who can help him level up his adorableness and skills. 🚨 URGENT FOSTER APPEAL 🚨 Meet Max, a 6-year-old Kelpie who found himself at the pound despite having great foundations. Unfortunately, no one came forward to claim him, and a medical exam revealed he has dreaded heartworm. What is Heartworm? Heartworm is a parasitic disease that affects a dog’s heart and lungs, but the good news is it’s treatable! However, treatment takes time and, sadly, funds. Max is urgently seeking a foster home with the following criteria: Preferably as a solo dog or with a super chill dog (he’s dog-friendly but prefers coexisting, not playing). A minimum commitment of 3 months. A quiet environment, as Max can’t run full speed due to his heart working overtime during treatment. Ideally, a home with a yard (over an apartment). Located in Greater Sydney. Own transport is ideal for vet trips, but not a deal breaker. If you can help Max, please fill out a foster application ASAP. Let’s give him the chance he deserves! ❤️

Maggie's Rescue is a NFP, No Kill animal rescue group based in Marrickville in the Inner West of Sydney. We are a co-operative of carers, who are all committed to our mission, which is to save and re-home abandoned and at risk animals, initially into a warm and loving foster home until we are able to find their perfect adoptive home. 🐶🐱

Our vision is that we do this with compassion, honesty and support to all our foster carers, volunteers, adopters and the greater community.

If you are able to offer a safe home to an animal in need or if you are interested in becoming a foster carer, then you will be rewarded with lots of affection and loyalty, and a love which is unconditional and furry!

All of our rescued animal leave our care vet checked, vaccinated, microchipped, de-sexed, flea and worm treated.
