Be aware! Ticks are active again on the Northern Beaches.

NEVS has been seeing an increase in tick paralysis cases. Several animals have been severely affected and some have even passed away.

Paralysis ticks tend to be a seasonal problem - mostly occurring the in the spring time, so we only expect the number of tick cases to grow as the weather warms up.

We recommend to keep your pets tick prevention up to date all year round and to use a newer class tick product such as Bravecto, Nexgard, Simparica or Revolution plus.

Please make sure your pets are up to date with their tick prevention and remember to tick search your pets daily - it could save their life.

You may have noticed a few posts back about Sophie's Legacy.
Sophie's Legacy is about raising awareness to the veterinary industry and how all veterinary staff are affected by the pressures they receive on a regular basis from the demands or pressures that are received from the general public.
Every worker in the veterinarian industry is passionate about animals and wants the best health outcome for the pets they look after. That’s why every day they come to work and do what they do, taking care of animals and in many cases, caring for their owners. The campaign encourages pet and animal owners to be kind and respectful and to understand the massive pressures impacting veterinary staff. This includes vets, vet nurses, animal attendants, veterinary receptionists, basically anyone working in the industry that help provide medical care for pets.
Sometimes, the demands/pressures received tend to lead to vet staff committing su***de.
Vets are four times more likely to die by su***de than the general population. On average, a vet dies by su***de every 12 weeks.

Today, we proudly launch our national campaign "We're Only Human", urging people to be kind to vet staff.

Our goal is to help prevent su***de in the veterinary industry which is all too common - on average one vet takes their life every 12 weeks.

Posters like this will be displayed in vet clinics across Australia, asking people to take a pledge in support of vets.

World Vet Day is a day to promote the role of Veterinarians have on the health and well being of the pets in our lives.
Vets are professionals who are dedicated, highly skilled, hardworking and passionate about what they do, all while providing the very best care for our pets.
They often work long hours, face challenges on a regular basis, constantly having to learn new things in veterinary medicine, experience heartbreak & joy along with clients. The roles vets play are varied and can range from routine vaccinations, emergencies, puppy & kitten health checks, senior health exams including keeping the elderly pets comfortable through their golden years, and helping those through the very tough times when they need it the most.
Here at Manly Vets, we are very grateful and lucky to have our own amazing vets, Dr Jason and Dr Jonny. Your skills, passion, dedication and support are truely amazing and the clinic wouldn't be the same without you

BARGAIN - Reminded why shopping locally is a great idea.

Ran out of special food for my cat. Ordered some on line from a big pet shop thinking it would be cheaper and I would get it fast. It was 5 days to deliver and $2 (even with free delivery) more than picking it up immediately from the lovely Manly Vet Clinic

They had lots in stock, checked with me that it was still the right product for my cat and I could park my bike outside.

Did you know that we work closely with Northside Veterinary Specialists, or NVS as we can call it?

NVS is the specialists is where we may sometimes refer you with your pet and any kind of specialist care.
Services they offer include : cardiology, specialised radiology including CT scans, endoscopy, colonoscopy, and can offer help for the more complicated respiratory, haematology, endocrine, gastrointestinal and kidney disorders, plus many more services.
They are located in Terrey Hills and run along side Northside Emergency Veterinary Service

The cute little french bulldog recently came into the clinic to get her teeth cleaned. She woke up from her anaesthesia, having the best cuddles from one of the nurses. As you can see, she looked very comfy 💕💕💕
