The team at GVH play a very large role in the welfare of strays in our community.
In the last 6 months we have taken in more than 15 stray animals. This does not include the even higher numbers of wildlife that is also bought into our care.
GVH contributes over $70 000 pro bono work and treatment of strays that have been brought into us by the community. Some of these strays have come to us due to overcrowded animal shelters and charities.
These furred and feathered babies would not have found their forever home if it were not for the care and sharing by our Facebook and GVH families.
We would like to thank our Facebook and GVH staff and community for your support in sharing the information about our strays.
We would also like to thank Mini Kitty Commune for taking on some of our strays with their already full facilities and foster carers. GVH takes pride in supporting the hard work and the foster carers of MKC, so they too can find their forever homes.

Friday 21st June is Take Your Dog To Work Day.
There are many benefits to bringing your dog to work. Animals can boost team morale, productivity and team bonding.
Pet owners should firstly check with their boss/company that this is permitted. If you do have the opportunity to take your pooch into work, there are some things you need to consider.
Your dog should be socialised with dogs and people as well. Make sure your working environment is suitable for your dog. Check if any other staff are allergic to animals.
If you are unable to bring your dog to work maybe you could bring a photo of your pet for your desk and create a Pets at Work Recognition day instead.
You could make treats for both humans and pets in honour of the day

She came to us as a very young kitten and looking a little disheveled. After group effort of fostering by our staff, she has become a strikingly beautiful and happy cat.

Our fabulous feline Cleveland grew into a spectacular cat, so much so that he was the inspiration for his own brand at his dad, Nath’s shop.
Nath tells of the birth of the shop, named in Cleveland’s honour:
The shop is a result of the "Covid Change" that affected millions of people worldwide. Working as an interior designer beforehand and not able to work, it seemed a push to change careers was imminent. A collaboration with a bunch of creatives sparked the idea to open our very own store named after and dedicated to the notorious Cleveland. Sparking the name “Cleveland on Oxford” and our motto “Everything Has Nine Lives”.
Once things started to come out of lockdown, the feeling of returning to interior design just did not feel right. Continuing the store dream “Living the Life” suited the main cat much more.
Fast forward to 2023 and we are here, thriving as a designer vintage boutique catering to all of Sydney and further. Our products on offer are curated finds, one-off pieces, curious and unique
Bric-a-brac, designer bags, shoes, and clothing. The staff at GVH were treated to Cleveland’s branded products including designer T-shirts and keyrings. It has been an absolute pleasure treating Cleveland and meeting Nath. We are looking forward to hearing about the next chapter in the fabulous life of the feline named Cleveland!

🌟🌟Cleveland the Fabulous Felines life – Part 3 🌟🌟
So, who is Cleveland? Cleveland has an interesting history and start to his life.
Nath tells the story:
“Years ago, on a dark and stormy night, coming home from a few drinks at The Pub, one of our owners found what he thought was a wet rat in the gutter of a busy road.
That road being Cleveland Street in Surry Hills.
Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be a three-week-old kitten (assumed washed down the drain). The feisty little kitten was rushed to the vet. About four weeks later the call came in….
“You know the kitten you found? He’s alive and doing well. Would you like to adopt him?”
It was perfect timing and that little bundle of joy from the gutter became a member of the family immediately. Deciding on the name was no trouble at all as we thought the name Cleveland would be perfect for him as that was the first place we were introduced. “

For our older pets, it is important that they are kept warm and comfortable during the cooler months. If you notice them struggling to move, it could be age-related diseases such as arthritis. If you are wanting more information on ways to keep your pet warm or have a senior pet that you would like to discuss, contact us today.
