Yesterday I passed a man and his dog waiting to cross the road at the lights . Midday, 33 degrees, on concrete in full sun. The dog was lifting each paw, one after another. Then he tried to reach a small patch of soil. It’s easy to forget how hot concrete is until we’re barefoot, so reminders are always handy - on a hot day, walk dogs on grass.
