When we first met we just started breeding with our Queen Fuji, now they are getting a 5th generation Aaralyn Burmilla. Candy is Fuji’s great great great granddaughter.
The making of the perfect show kitten. Our brand new Pet Marvel Drying Box arrived just in time for show bath just before the CFA Autumn Show. I love how this is a “top loader” so I can easily brush through the hair while the dryer is going. The drying process took about an hour and I’m pretty happy with the results. Valentina didn’t cope with the hair dryer at all so this is a really good option as she didn’t think the machine was too loud. There are 3 fan options to choose from and she took the 1 and 2 fan options well. The max 3 fan I could see that she was feeling a little uneasy so I turned it down. All in all it was very easy to use and I love the big window in the front so you can monitor your cat and it doesn’t feel claustrophobic. I do highly recommend this product for anyone with a longhaired animal up to 9kg that they need to wash on a regular basis. At $289 (there’s a 15% discount currently if you are an Ebayplus member) it’s honestly a steal compared to similar models in other brands (Ranges from $450 to $850) It is large enough for 2 cats of mine even, but the flip side is that storage may be an issue due to the large footprint. But all in all I’m over the moon. I wish I had a machine like this when I was bathing Momo for show 19 years ago.
We went to the 4 ring NSWCFA Autumn Show yesterday and we brought along Valentina, Dalia and Lonestar for the very first time. Lonestar had a really good practice run today but Valentina being much older was taking out all the best of breed titles. Valentina was her usual flamboyant self wowing everyone with her beautiful green eyes and lovely expression and captured the visiting NZ judge’s heart (watch the judging videos). Dalia was up against fierce competition but presented herself well. We are so proud of all our girls especially baby Lonestar being her first time. It was a very long day for her, the show didn’t end till 6 pm.

Pet fence was built today so Taylor can sit in there with the kittens. We just don’t want the kittens to run free right now as Taylor has way too many tiny bites all over everywhere eg Lego pieces. We don’t want the kittens to swallow these accidentally. Epic fail discovery was that the gaps between the poles are too wide so the kittens can escape lol. Must go to Bunnings and get clear vinyl table cloth to stick over the poles 😂

So Dalia’s baby girl is 1 week old today. I’ve been giving her 1 to 2 supplementary feeds each day for 6 days now so we have developed quite a bond.
Dalia being first time mum has been quite anxious. She didn’t eat or drink much for the first 2 days basically worried about leaving her baby behind, so she stopped doing even the simplest things such as eating drinking and going to the toilet.
Baby kitten suffered a significant drop in weigh as a result so I knew I had to step in to help. I started feeding Dalia in her bed with her baby there so she doesn’t have to leave. I’ve also made the food extra soupy so she gets most of her liquid with her wet food. After 3 days I’ve noticed her eating her little biscuits. I’ve basically hook all the food bowls around the rim of her crate so she can access them easier without having to leave her baby. I normally don’t feed those tuna paste treats that often but I have also resorted to giving her one of those once a day just to help her get her liquids up. Since making all these changes she’s relaxed quite a bit and her milk starts to flow with better hydration and baby is now gaining in general about 12g to 15g a day which is pretty good for a kitten at her age.
I’m hoping that Dalia will continue to ease into motherhood and that she understands that there’s nothing to be anxious about and I’m always there to help her.
Baby girl is looking really great. She looks a lot like one of my regular longhair Burmilla babies. I think she’s going to be a little keeper.
