We are weeks out from Christmas! 🎄 Perhaps you’ve just made the solid choice to let your dog skip the big social gathering and instead chill at home with a sitter. Great call! 🙌

But now you’re thinking... oh heck.

(A) Find a sitter
(B) Introduce my big-feelings dog
(C) Ensure everyone makes it out alive 😅
Don’t worry — Here are 4 pointers to survive the December scramble:

1️⃣ Take it slow
Meet the sitter over a few sessions, at your dog’s pace. They don’t need to become besties—our dog just needs to collect some info: sniffing, glancing, maybe approaching before retreating. It’s also a chance for the sitter to learn your dog’s unique needs.

2️⃣ Home is best
If possible, keep your dog in their familiar environment with the sitter. If not, pack their safety essentials: beds, blankets, comfort items, and their decompression routines (chews, licki mats, snuffles, boxes for shredding).

3️⃣ Minimise handling & triggers
Skip the walks if they’re stressful. Indoor activities (like treat puzzles or scent games) are often better for bonding and way less triggering.

4️⃣ Have a backup plan
Provide emergency contacts and arrange extra help in case the sitter needs to step away for any reason. It’s always better to be over-prepared.

I set the oven to 160deg Celsius, then layed the washed baby carrots on a baking tray and cooked them for 3hrs.

It’s was my first try at making them, carrot treats.
