Winter means more indoor plants 🌿, but many are toxic to dogs. Avoid lilies, azaleas, oleander, sago palms, and poinsettias.

Symptoms of poisoning include vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, or difficulty breathing. Keep plants out of reach and know what's in your home.

If your dog eats a plant that is toxic, contact us with the plant name straight away 📞.

Don't skip flea prevention because it's winter 🐶! Fleas thrive in heated homes and can survive cold weather.

They reproduce rapidly indoors, making infestations harder to control once established. Year-round prevention is cheaper and easier than treating an infestation.

Modern flea treatments are highly effective - ask us about the best option for your dog's lifestyle 🦴.

Winter walks need extra planning 🐕! Shorter walks prevent overexposure, and dog coats help smaller or short-haired breeds stay warm.

Walk very young or very old dogs in temperatures above 10°C if possible. Avoid icy surfaces where dogs can slip. Early morning frost can irritate paw pads, so try to stick to safe paths.

Keep walks enjoyable but safe ❄️.

Winter nights can be harsh for outdoor cats 🐾. Provide insulated shelters with blankets, raised beds to avoid cold ground, and ensure access to fresh, unfrozen water.

Consider bringing elderly or unwell cats indoors during extreme cold. Watch for signs of hypothermia like lethargy, shivering, or pale gums. Even hardy outdoor cats appreciate a warm refuge when temperatures drop ❄️.

⚠️⚠️⚠️MICROCHIP ALERT⚠️⚠️⚠️
HomeSafeID, a private pet microchip registry, has shut down without notice.

🐾Most NSW dogs and cats should be on the compulsory Pet Registry
👉🏻https://www.petregistry.nsw.gov.au/

🐰🐦 Other pets (like birds and bunnies) are usually on private databases - and many may have been registered with HomeSafeID

Check your pet's microchip details at:
https://www.petaddress.com.au/

❗If your pet was with HomeSafeID ❗
Transfer their details to another registry - NSW Pet Registry

📌Keeping your pets microchip information current is vital if they ever go missing

We're proud to announce that one of our own, Kayla has been named a finalist for the outstanding Youth Awards for the Sutherland Shire Local Business Awards.

Kayla is one of our veterinary nurses. Kayla is technically our trainee veterinary nurse, she is at the final stages of her Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing TAFE course. She will graduate in the next 1-2 months, and will then be a Certificate 4 qualified veterinary nurse.

Kayla has been a very pro-active student and is self motivated. She has learned a lot in the last years from our senior nurses and vets, and is very well able to work independently
Kayla has become an integral part of the Cronulla Veterinary Clinic team over the past 1.5+ years. Despite her young age, she brings a remarkable level of maturity, responsibility, and professionalism to her role. Her ability to work independently, take initative, and follow direction has made her a dependable and trusted team member.

Congratulations Kayla on this well-deserved honor!
