WARNING: This Is Inside Your Diesel Engine‼️
The carbon buildup you see inside this Toyota Hilux diesel intake is caused by the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) system, which recirculates exhaust gases back into the engine.
On its own, this isn’t a major issue since exhaust gases are dry. However, when they mix with blow-by gases that contain oil and fuel vapours, the dry carbon becomes a thick, sticky sludge.
Over time, this sludge builds up and can restrict airflow, reduce performance, and even cause engine damage.
Regular carbon cleaning is essential — it’s recommended every 60,000 km, especially if your vehicle doesn’t have preventative upgrades such as an oil catch can or EGR delete system installed.
