Hello everyone,
We’re delighted by the enthusiastic use of our main arena by our equestrian groups and recreational riders. It’s clear that this space is valued by our community, and Camden Council is committed to keeping it a premier venue for equine activities.
To maintain the arena’s quality and enhance safety, we’ve made the decision to reserve the main arena primarily for competition events. This will help preserve the grass surface and soil structure, minimising wear and reducing any potential slip hazards for horses.
By focusing on competition use, we can better allocate resources to keep the arena in peak condition. Starting today, the main arena will be secured with key access provided only to competition event organisers, with signage to be installed soon.
As part of this commitment, we’ll be increasing maintenance activities after competitions, including:
• Regular irrigation
• Topdressing
• Fertilising
• W**d management
• Aeration
• Mowing to an optimal grass length
We’re also progressing the installation of permanent irrigation for this arena and others and are actively working to secure funding for a complete resurfacing project of the main arena, with advanced drainage to complement the irrigation.
For training and recreational riding, riders are welcome to enjoy the three other fully fenced arenas and the open parkland space within the park. Training and practice event organisers will be contacted separately to arrange the relocation of training and practice days for 2025 and beyond.
Thank you for your support and understanding as we work together to enhance and preserve this valuable community facility for the safety and enjoyment of all our park users.
